HAMPTON BEACH, N.H. - New Hampshire Fish and Game has fined the man who said he accidentally kicked a seagull on Hampton Beach.
Nate Rancloes was charged with a violation level offense of taking a protected bird during a closed season.
Rancloes, a decorated veteran who received a Purple Heart in 2005, told NH1 he was sitting in the sand eating a cheeseburger and fries, when the seagull got to his meal.
I spun around in a circle with my leg out to shoo it away, and unfortunately, did strike the seagull hard, Rancloes said. It was a one in a million bad luck kick that couldnt be repeated. This is no more than a simple mistake. But social media has blown it into something it is not.
New Hampshire Fish and Game still moved forward with a $124 fine because seagulls are federally protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.

The seagull stole his hamburger and he ACCIDENTLY kicked it hard enough to kill it? hahahahahaha too funny!
But it was a seagull, so he was prosecuted.
Yep and they will eat baby chicks of protected birds. I saw a full snatch a baby Peregrine Falcon from its nest kill and eat it.
Or a Fizzie. I’ve snagged a few while tossing a shrimp.
One of the highlights of my childhood was the time we visited some amusement park and sat down to eat our lunch next to a petting zoo area. My mom was sitting next to the approximately 4 wall when an ostrich reaches over and stole her hamburger. Everyone except her was ROFL.
Of course seagulls are protected. 535 are in DC as we speak.
Seagulls are more like rats in behavior...if you were paralyzed, flat on your back yet alive, seagulls would definitely exhibit rat-like behavior and go right for your eyeballs.
Pigeons would kind of strut around and look at you...:)
Seagulls = flying rats
Seagulls, the Rats of The Sky, are a protected species?

We only have a few million in Galveston alone.
The bird has obviously been watching how the human shoplifters act.
Reminds me of when Boudreaux got in trouble for shooting a Pelican.
Boudreaux said he wasn’t aware it was the Louisiana State bird, so judge let him go with a warning.
As Boudreaux as leaving, the judge asked, what does Pelican taste like?
Boudreaux said, Oh it’s good. But it’s not as tender and juicy as a bald eagle.

Don’t mess with a man’s cheeseburger...
Expensive cheeseburger that he didn’t get to eat....
