Two of the best ever vehicles ever made had inline sixes.

The 4.0 liter Jeep Cherokee and the 4.9 liter Ford F-150.

Bulletproof engines. They will last a million miles.

I had a 4.9L/300ci in a 66 ford.You would almost think it was a v8.

A crate in line 6 will go in the project CJ7.

The engine was blown when I got it a few years ago.

As much as I would love an AMC V8, they’re just too high.

Well, close to it. There's always that rear main in the 4.9l that starts leaking at about 250,000...

But yeah... a workhorse of a small truck engine that just couldn't keep up with modern emissions requirements.

I had a ‘96 Cherokee Country with the 4.0 High Output I6. Couldn’t kill that motor if I wanted to. Smooth, great power curve, all the low-end torque I needed. Still regret selling it when it turned 15 and ran like a top!
