Twentieth Century Fox was just days away from locking picture on The Predator when an urgent note came in: Delete the scene featuring Steven Wilder Striegel.
Striegel, 47, didnt have a big role in his longtime friend Shane Blacks reboot of the sci-fi thriller just a three-page scene shared with actress Olivia Munn.
But last month, Munn learned that Striegel is a registered sex offender who pleaded guilty in 2010 after facing allegations that he attempted to lure a 14-year-old female into a sexual relationship via the internet. When Munn shared the information with Fox on Aug. 15, studio executives quickly decided to excise him from the movie.
Our studio was not aware of Mr. Striegels background when he was hired, a Fox spokesperson said in a statement to The Times. We were not aware of his background during the casting process due to legal limitations that impede studios from running background checks on actors.
Black, however, has always known.

Ill bet that order came from Bob Iger himself.
Remember - Fox is Disney now.
Egad!
Well all the trailers from that movie look like pure trash anyway.
There are tons of sex offenders working in Hollywood. No big deal.
But the fact this creep is a REGISTERED sex offender? What? Does that make him OVER qualified?
If there’s a scene where Olivia Munn’s character dies, I will pay money to see this movie. Well worth admission. She’s kind of an awful person. I did the same thing with “Contagion” to go see Gwyneth Paltrow’s character die.
You can’t get arrested in that town without being a sex offender!
Hah!
I remember when Paltrow’s character died in that movie.
Great scene!
When it comes to choosing between who is a better human being between Shane Black and Olivia Munn, too, it’s no contest. Tons of people hate Munn and everybody who knows Black says he’s a great guy.
The scarlet letter.
I bet that they did more digging into this guys background and discovered even more stuff that was never prosecuted. no one cares just as long as it does not become a public relations problem and I can only see them spending the money to recut a film if this had a real potential to blow up on them.
The sex offender’s mistake was trying to be an actor. He should have been a director, then Hollywood wouldn’t care.
“He said he made it clear the two could not engage in a romantic relationship because of her age and because they were related.” Stop digging, dude.
I guess that means you're in favor of welfare for ex-cons or the death penalty for all criminals just to be logically consistent.
If you haven’t seen the latest Mission Impossible then you might want to for a similar delightful surprise.
Olivia Munn lying and taking credit for her stunt double’s very dangerous work: http://rpad.tv/2016/03/12/olivia-munn-x-men-apacolypse-stunt-lie/
Thanks, bro!
And then they removed the top of her skull in the autopsy! It was great!
Unfortunately the Matt Damon character survived.
Olivia Munn... never seen her in anything and wouldn’t recognize her if she walked in the door.
