HOWEVER, if you have a map and a GPS, you better know something about map datums else your GPS is little better than a brick to hold your map in place. Ostensibly even the USAF learned that lesson in Serbia, depending who you ask.

What’s a map? Really poor spatial sense, and when I look at a map I have a terrible time because there is just too much going on because I live on the East Coast where there are lots and lots of roads. It’s visual overload for me, and I can’t focus. I am a woman who formerly spent many hours of her adult life getting lost. I love my GPS!
Fortunately, I have a husband who is very good with maps. Before GPS, I would sometimes need to call him — from a pay phone — and he would get me going the right way.
