Lee surrendered to General Grant at Appomattox Court House, VA. April 9, 1865. End of story.

Since both NC and AL had operating sea ports through almost all of the war they had the best uniforms in the CSA. Best being relative. It was easy to tell them apart as they were the ones that didn’t look like tattered scarecrows.

Confederates forces opened fire on a United States Army installation in Charleston Harbor, SC. That being Fort Sumter. That was the opening act of war. The South (of 1861) lost the war it started. You want to talk about keeping it alive? For crying out loud from your parents basements that's all you Lost Causers do night and day and you just can't handle the truth.
