As Captain Kirk in Star Trek, William Shatner took us to places where no man has gone before, with stories that foreshadowed the invention of the mobile phone and tablet computers. Now, in real life, the actor is exploring virtual reality but he wants the entertainment industry to be aware of its potential detrimental impact on vulnerable minds.
Shatner told the Guardian: The use of technology to affect our minds is so powerful now that we need to be on guard in the future.
He is involved with Ziva Dynamics, a VR company, through which he has experienced nightmarish footage involving strange creatures that creep up on the user.
Its so real: its the stuff of nightmares
Weve got to be really careful because you could put somebody into a psychosis, he said.

Still waiting for my flying car
Yeah he did good onBoston Legal. To me my favorite character on the show.
"Diplomacy! The only good diplomat is a fully loaded phaser bank!"
Did he drown some of his soon to be ex’s? Because Shatner did.
you’re being harsh, he only drowned one
Im pretty sure that Dick Tracy had his 2-way wrist watch in the 1930s.
Personally, I think it is a really bad idea.
Way too many people have enough trouble navigating a car in two dimensions to put them in a car that can navigate in three dimensions.
I didnt have a childhood in the 1930s, Im not that old.
Neither did I.
But if you have read the comic or saw the really bad movie (Warren Beatty, Madonna, Al Pacino. One of my personal worst movies of all time) you know the setting of the stories is prohibition in the 1930s.
The comic was first started in the 1930s.
Priceless!
Most of the cast were a bit ‘off’ but he took it to an entirely new level!
Crossing between command posts at 11:30 that night, Doohan was hit by six rounds fired from a Bren Gun by a nervous Canadian sentry: four in his leg, one in the chest, and one through his right middle finger. The bullet to his chest was stopped by a silver cigarette case given to him by his brother. His right middle finger had to be amputated, something he would conceal on-screen during most of his career as an actor.

The voices in my head won’t stop talking to me, but they’re speaking Spanish and I can’t understand them.

Did he tell him “Shut up Wesley”???
(I always despised that character, like the Ewok of STNG)
(Deanna, on the other hand, can beam down to my planet anytime...)
Bkmk
Shatner is brilliant at this kind of stuff. Remember Priceline. He made a small fortune on Priceline.
Shatner has an eye for up and coming tech/ideas/companies. And he is excellent at create buzz about those things.
Here, Shatner is introducing the world to Ziva Dynamics and Ziva is pretty dynamic.
As far as I can tell, Shatner is referring to Ziva's work in building character animations by starting with accurate skeletal structure and then adding, in sequence, muscle, fascia, fat, skin, and hair. This animation is accurate right down to the way the skin and fat and muscle react to elemental force that are present in their environment (like wind and gravity).
Here are some very short videos that illustrate how Ziva's work produces incredibly lifelike animated creatures:
Create Realistic Character Animation with Ziva Dynamics
ELEMEX Creature with ZIVA VFX Dynamics (This might be the monster Shatner is referring to)
I think it's going to have a devastating effect on humans. This kind of stuff will separate humans into two distinct camps (as far as human sexuality goes).
In one camp will be the addicts (porn/sex is a powerful drug with tentacles reaching right into the soul). And in the other camp will be the Luddites (consisting of both old fashioned couples of men/women and celibates/asexuals).
I think we can imagine which group will be larger.
We are on the cusp of entering a brave new world of perversion.
Just what we need. Thousands of Sport Pilots flying through already crammed airspace on the way to work.
