A 10-year-old boy who needed hospital treatment after being beaten up by bullies, refused to fight back because its not the Jedi way, his mother said.
Lizette Casanova said her son Aiden Vasquez felt it in his soul not to hit the kid back, while being tormented by a classmate at his California school.
The Star Wars fans ordeal came to the attention of Mark Hamill who played Luke Skywalker in the film series who said of the boy, he was astonished by his wisdom and courage.
Police are investigating an allegation of assault after Ms Casanova lodged a criminal complaint about the bullying.
She also called for her sons school, Two Bunch Palms primary in Desert Hot Springs, to take action.
This is the third year my son is bullied, she wrote on Facebook. Last year he had to get stitches on his face from getting pushed, [and he was] losing his breath on the playground for getting thrown down.
She added: Now were making hospital visits, and Im pressing charges.
Aiden needed stitches after suffering a 3in cut during the latest incident, on Monday morning, which began with a 10-year-old classmate taking his backpack, his mother alleged.
She posted a picture of her son, with a bloodied face and swollen eye, on Facebook.
Ms Casanova said it was the second time he had needed hospital treatment because of bullies.
She wrote: Aiden wants me to let everyone know hes doing fine all stitched up and numb... he said he felt it in his soul not to hit the kid back. Its not the Jedi way!

This is one of the reasons liberalism is a mental illness. I constantly see them basing decisions and beliefs on fictional characters. I had one try to convince me that his opinion was correct because Mr. Spock shared his belief.
Future Limp-wristed Hairdresser of America.
Wake up, little guy. In the real world, what I call Our Shared Reality, there are some things worth fighting for. I hope you learn that lesson very soon, before you get beaten again. There is not automatic virtue in playing the weakling or even the martyr.
A few years from now, he’ll find out most girls are not attracted to extreme passivists.
Self defense is biblical and clearly articulated in scripture.
To turn the other cheek is to take an insult, not to be a pacifist or allow others to abuse you, or anyone in your care.
As for this “not being the Jedi way,” what the heck? The Jedis used light sabers and fought to the death did they not?
Kid should have watched the movie “Hancock”. Slightly graphic.

Not fight back? I thought that was the RNC way.
Since that kid is a Star Wars fan, I would recommend that he be shown Star Wars I (1977) in which the good guys fought back and prevailed over the bad guys.
Obi-Wan right from the 1977 movie showed a tendency for dismemberment, cutting off the right arm of an alien called Ponda Baba in the Mos Eisley cantina.
Several thoughts on this one:
Jedi did fight back but fought defensively.
Where’s the boy’s father? Why are moms the only ones we ever hear from in articles like this?
It’s Christians who are taught to turn the other cheek—not Jedis.
To those FReepers who say the boy needs to fight back against the bullies, a school yard is much like a boxing ring in that the fighters are trapped and restricted to using a limited set of weapons. The boy cannot evade by leaving the area, he may be considerably outclassed in size, skill, and numbers, and he can’t arm up to equalize his chances. It’s really easy to tell him to fight back, and everyone knows of stories where bullies back down when confronted. However, it’s pretty cruel and heartless to stand back and say, “law of the jungle!” No. In civilized societies, the strong are—dare I say—obligated to protect and defend the weak.
He most certainly should learn to fight back. That is the only way to deal with bullies — in school and in life.

Indeed, and given what is later revealed about his abilities, he was perfectly capable of disarming the alien without dismemberment, so that part was basically pure sadism.
Maybe it’s time to get him a Billy Jack DVD, some Bruce Lee, and some Chuck Norris. He seems very affected by films.
Its complete B.S. to blame a kid for not fighting back against a bully. Bullies seek out where they have all the advantages. They bully when they are bigger or stronger or have buddies and the victim is alone. Likely the poor kid was outmatched and really had no chance, so he deals with it by forming a narrative about him just being noble. He is only human, and only a kid. Its sick to come down on him about that. If we don't want him thinking that way, then somebody needed to step into the situation and back him up. Kids at schools need to be taught that a real man doesn't just yell "fight! fight! fight!" when a bully starts pushing a smaller kid around. A real man defends the weak and the innocent.
Sometimes there is no one there to defend you. Instead of taking a passive approach this should motivate the kid to take actions that will better prepare himself to defend himself against bullies. Turning the other cheek is not a survival strategy.
. And that was because the alien was bullying Luke Skywalker.

Bullies will just escalate if you don't break something.
The way I learned it it was “always hit back first”....
he is waiting a few years,, then he will lash out.
another school shooter in the making..
