Sexually transmitted diseases are on the rise in America, according to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In fact, nearly 2.3 million cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis were diagnosed in the U.S. in 2017, surpassing the record set in 2016 by more than 200,000, CDC scientists reported Tuesday.
Experts say many factors have contributed to the rapid rise, though the biggest one may be less frequent condom use. It’s less clear whether dating apps, like Tinder, have contributed in some way to the spread of STDs, though some researchers think they have.
“We have seen steep and sustained increases over the last five years,” said Dr. Gail Bolan, director of the Division of STD Prevention at the CDC. “Usually there are ebbs and flows, but this sustained increase is very concerning. We haven’t seen anything like this for two decades.”

How common is syphilis among MSM?Between 2015 and 2016, the number of reported primary and secondary (P&S) cases in the United States increased by 18%, and there were 27,814 P&S syphilis cases reported in 2016. Most (58%) of these cases were among MSM.
I did not find a reliable statistic for the percentage of the national male population who are MSM. Looks like it might be 4-5%. If about 5% of the male population belongs to a group that contracts 58% of the syphilis cases, shouldn't that group be clearly identified to the public?

Problem for homosexual community is that we are at the end for antibiotics working on STD’s.... It will devastate that community.
From the time they get old enough to spell “boy” and “girl”, children are encouraged to hookup with the opposite sex. Mothers get their daughters on the birth control pill and all is good — little Susie has to be the most popular girl at school. And telling boys to just be careful - that boy’s will be boy’s. That mindset follows throughout the life cycle. Old folks who should just follow nature’s plan and not try to act as if they’re reliving their teen and adult years are now on drug enhancing performance potions so they can be still be considered hot numbers. No wonder that whoever embraces this lifestyle will eventually come down with something Ajax won’t take off.
Or just pay attention in school and use condoms the right way.
All three of the diseases mentioned in this study are entirely preventable if you didn’t sleep through sex ed. Apparently people are getting more ill informed and much too lackadaisical with every passing year.
most high-school students think health is a joke and don’t pay attention. Now they are paying the price.
