RALEIGH, N.C. - A North Carolina woman will spend an extra 20 years behind bars for trying to feed her husband's ex-girlfriend to alligators.
Amanda Hayes and her husband, Grant Ruffin Hayes III, were convicted of killing and dismembering 27-year-old Laura Ackerson more than three years ago in Raleigh after a long custody dispute over Grant’s two oldest children.
Prosecutors said Ackerson’s body was cut up with a power saw and driven to Amanda’s sister’s house in Texas.
According to prosecutors, new details show that Amanda tried to dissolve Ackerson’s remains with acid before dumping them into an alligator-infested creek.
Last week, Amanda was convicted of tampering with evidence and sentenced to an additional 20-year sentence on top of her life sentence in North Carolina.
Grant was sentenced to 13-16 years in prison.

That’s not much of a deterrent.
Thus the adage: If I killed her when I wanted, I’d be out of prison by now.
But they were doing it for the children! The murdered lady was getting custody of the kids and they knew that they were better parents.
Was on a jury a few years ago here in Fla. for a burglary trial, we came to a guilty verdict and the defendant was sentenced to 15 years just for that, and this guy gets 13-16 for murder......wow.
Amanda probably deserves a few extra points for style ...

Look at the smirk on that animal’s face.The female animal looks drugged up.
Now 3 children are without parents because of their brilliant scheme.
B..Any person who would assist in that type of murder is very likely to do the same to their new partner when the going gets rough.

The children have a long way to go. I pray the state is not stupid enough to allow visitation or try to reunite! The state can be ridiculous at times.
First they killed her.
Then they cut her up.
Then they doused the body parts in acid.
Then they fed what was left to the gators.
Probably just a spur of the moment thing.
He got less time then she did. How the hell did that happen?
