Suspected Serial Dine-And-Dash Dater Pleads Not Guilty To Felony Counts Of Extortion, Grand Theft

Paul Gonzales pleaded not guilty to extortion, grand theft and other charges stemming from his repeated “dine-and-dash” dates with women he contacted on dating apps.

His alleged crimes go back to 2016 and apparently ended earlier this year, when one of his latest victims was left to cover the $130 check for a shrimp and filet mignon dinner at Smitty’s Bar in Pasadena.

Prosecutors say Gonzales, 45, has left eight women with bills totaling about $1,000.

Apparently, second dates just weren’t his thing.

I guess he didn’t get a second date.

He decided he wasn’t interested in them? Hey it happens, but, to stick her with the bill is terrible.

“Gonzales is being held on $315,000 bail. If convicted, Gonzales faces up 13 years in state prison.”

He would have a lower bail and less prison time if he had drugged and raped the women.

If he were undocumented he would be out on the streets.

Geez would have been lots less trouble, if he paid the bill and just told women he wasn’t interested.

Is all this worth it to get a “free” restaurant dinner? What a crazy m.o. this dude has.

Well it’s pretty low class but let’s don’t waste taxpayer money imprisoning this guy for 13 years over $1000. It costs about $28,000 per year to house a prisoner.

How about you make him pay the money back and wash dishes in each restaurant for a few weekends. I think he would be rehabilitated at that point.

That does save him a bundle of money on dating and dinner costs.

I’m just wondering who his dates thought was going to pay the bill when they agreed to meet him at the restaurant

On a $1000 total bill? Something is wrong here...

Well I guess we have to assume he invited them to dinner so they assumed he would pay. Frankly I don’t know if grand theft will hold up in court with all that assumin. In reality is there really a law against sticking someone with the bill? At best this is misdemeanor territory.

“Something is wrong here...”

It’s called the “liberal mind”.

Joe Arpaio should run a school for judges.

His defense may revolve around a he said/she said, where he will testify that the women agreed to pick up the tab.

Or will he say his prescription drugs got him disoriented, and he had to suddky go pee, and forget where he was??

Can’t wait to hear his defense.

My guess is he has several charges of defrauding inn keeper or whatever the law is for that and the maximum for each charge added together is 13 years. I can’t imagine it actually working out that way.

What I wonder is if they can get him for defrauding the restaurants. Sounds to me like he actually left his dates with the bill. Not sure there is a law against doing that.

"...online dating..."

He could make the case as a first date they were initially going to split costs 50/50 until he suddenly felt “triggered” by alleged pro-Trump statements made by the date, forcing his rapid and unexpected departure. LOL.
