John McCain, Sarah Palin, and the Rise of Reality TV poltics (liberalese for 'Rise of MAGA')

The party of Donald Trump began almost 10 years ago to the day, when John McCain tapped Sarah Palin to join his ticket.

“She’s not from these parts and she’s not from Washington, but when you get to know her, you’re going to be as impressed as I am,” McCain said when he announced his decision. “She’s got the grit, integrity, the good sense and fierce devotion to the common good that is exactly what we need in Washington today.”

Even though McCain and Palin were bested by Barack Obama and Joe Biden, Palin inspired a slew of copycats, unleashing a political style and a values system that animated the Tea Party movement and laid the groundwork for a Trump presidency.

Vox is a liberal publication, but it read my mind. McCain's decision inadvertently birthed the Trump movement.

And it's true. Palin had her facebook page. Where the term "death panels" and "lamestream media" other such memes stuck.

And Trump has his Twitter and covfefe to keep the fake news media on their toes.

Steve Bannon's movie:

I wish the president would make Governor Palin ambassador to a fairly decent country. Any suggestions?

Well Russia or Ukraine of course! (And I am not kidding.) After Putin invaded Georgia, Palin predicted Putin would invade Ukraine next if Obama remained president.

“After the Russian Army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama’s reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia’s Putin to invade Ukraine next.” - Sarah Palin, 2008

Everyone laughed at her then...but...

I scanned this article or drivel, what a hit piece. To the author, I'll say it again we have the Palin Presidency without the Mini-Skirt in President Trump. It is a movement, and another spark was Santelli's rant about a having a tea party when Obama's spending went through the moon. We have always been here, DC just screwed us, took us for granted, sold our future, and our financial desinty and jobs that help give us purpose. Ya pissed us off too much and a man who would take no pay, owe no one who they feared, stepped in the breech, we finally have a voice and we haven't had one since Reagan.

FWIW, to the lame-streams, and the Steve Schmidt's of the world, you didn't destroy Sarah Palin, in a way you made her and all of us Stronger.

"...2008..."

I was voting for President Palin at that time and unfortunately had to also take weasel John McCain as part of the package deal.

Ping to Sarah's Amazing List.

VOX gets it 100% Correct. Whether they meant too or not.

Vox sucks, they're just another batch of partisan media shills regurgitating DNC talking points -- such as the one where a bunch of uneducated gun-toting racists were fired up by some opportunists. Thanks KC_Lion.

“...but when you get to know her, you’re going to be as impressed as I am,” McCain said...”

... as he proceeded immediately to do everything in his power to undermine her.

AND berate us as “racists” for stepping up to her - and HIS - defense.

I won’t miss the man at all.

IMO, McCain never planned nor wanted to win that election. He was in the tank for Obama just like the rest of the Swamp. Sarah Palin was selected because they thought she would be an anchor on the campaign. They were wrong! Sarah Palin set in motion the whole movement towards Trump’s 2016 election victory. We owe Sarah Palin a lot.

People can say all the good things they want about John McCain today. I won’t. He’s as despicable in death as he was in life.

What said it all about McCain was when he suspended his campaign during the Financial Crisis, to fly back to Washington to do....nothing.

Steve Schmidt and Nichole Wallace undermining Palin was another give away. Winning teams don’t do those things.
