He later joined the famous group in 1972 as a temporary replacement for bassist Leon Wilkeson and ultimately became the groups third guitarist.

Heavy!
Whiskey bottles, and brand new cars
Oak tree you’re in my way
There’s too much coke and too much smoke
Look what’s going on inside you
Ooooh that smell
Can’t you smell that smell
Ooooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you

What’s really funny is to look at the cover of the SAC album cover -— there’s Ed sitting on his guru pillow with bells and beads and the whole hippie psychedelic 1967 look and then look at his pictures with Lynyrd Skynyrd and he looks like a real Alabama redneck. And I say that with affection...we all looked like Ed King back in the 70’s.
Seen them twice with Ronnie. Blew Aerosmith off the stage in DC. Skynyrd always brought their A game.

Years ago I was floored when I read about his SAC connection. He joined the band, recorded with them, quit, then went back when asked. Sweet Home Alabama (for those who grew up in the LP era) was, unlike the rest of "Second Helping", but like the first one, "Pronounced", recorded in Studio One, Doraville Georgia.
Its just Gary Rossington and Artemis Pyle left now I think.
Those darn Cigi-Butts a presume
“Has died” is missing from title. Kinda figured that’s what it was, but a little confusing. Other endings could’ve been “ ate lunch”, “walked his dog”, or “ordered a book off of amazon”.

Ed’s guitar solo on Sweet Home is iconic, one of the most perfect. Super tight and just about impossible to duplicate faithfully.
Showtime has a documentary on them this month. Also, Jeff Lynne ELO concert from London filmed last year. We saw them Tuesday in NYC; great concert.

Lynyrd Skynyrd a still somewhat unknown entity opened for the WHO.
Don’t get me wrong because they Who was great but Sknyrd brought the friggen house down.
RIP. Played over the PA right before every Alabama home game. Never get tired of hearing it.
Ed just couldn’t deal with all the craziness and fighting and left to go back to Cali.
Damn they were good though.
Well I heard Mister Young sing about her
Well I heard old Neil put her down
Well I hope Neil Young will remember
A southern man don’t need him around anyhow
