Years ago I was floored when I read about his SAC connection. He joined the band, recorded with them, quit, then went back when asked. Sweet Home Alabama (for those who grew up in the LP era) was, unlike the rest of "Second Helping", but like the first one, "Pronounced", recorded in Studio One, Doraville Georgia.
Except he didn’t play on Street Survivors. He had left the band by then. Replaced by Steve Gaines who was killed in the plane crash (and is dead center in the album cover eerily enough).
I work with a (usually) good-natured muslim woman, black, and one day a month or two ago, when "Sweet Home Alabama" popped up on someone's Spotify stream in the office, she started singing along with, knew all the words. If Calypso Louie were dead (soon please) he'd have rolled over in his grave.
