The wife and I use that one too. It’s pretty reliable. My wife is CNA/Heart Monitor tech so she keeps a good eye on our BP.

Use three ReliOn models from Walmart - wrist, basic turn on and inflate, and fancier self-inflating with memory modes et al - all agree more closely with each other than readings I get in most doctors’ offices - manual or electronic - which are usually ten to fifteen points higher than I get at home......

Get a pressure cuff, stethoscope and learn the old fashioned way.
I’ve been through a ton of the machines and they never do quite the job

Shouldn’t you be looking for relative changes anyway. My home scale is always off a pound or two. But I know what the general difference is, and relatively speaking, I know if I am headed in the right direction.

My husband - and his cardiologist - swear by Omron Model: BP786N. Batteries and also a jack for wall plug and blue tooth to connect with your cell phone. Collects the data and plots a chart. He’s a scientist and it is up to his standards. Amazon `$100.

I agree.

I used to have "white coat syndrome" with my BP readings. Get near any medical personnel in white lab coats or a place that smelled of isopropyl alcohol, and I'd get nervous and my pulse and BP would elevate.

I used to take readings 3 or 4 times a day after my heart surgery. Just got used to it.

But then I started to wonder about the readings being all over the place and spoke with my doctor about it. She said to just take it once a week or so and look for trends, not random spikes in the pressure.

So after that I took my pressure less often and wrote the readings down to watch for trends. Sure enough, my BP wasn't as bad as I thought it was.

Now, 6 years after open heart surgery, I only take my BP every few months when I remember to do it.

And surprising to me, is that my readings are within normal ranges again. Recovered and fitter than I was before heart surgery, I think I worried too much about my individual BP readings before. Now, watching the trends, not so much.

I use the LifeSource UA-767 Plus that I got from the VA. Seems to work fine.

I use an Omron 762.... had it for about 5 years and seems to have held its accuracy an functionality without a problem. It plugs into the wall but also has a battery. Will track two users and hold about 100 readings. It sold for under $50 at Costco as I recall.

The one thing the Omron 762 does not do is let you download the data into a spreadsheet so that you can make a trend graph. If I was getting one again, that is a feature that I think is a must.

Omron, me too. Have used it for eight years. Tracks well with both physician's office (manometer/gauge/stethoscope) and Hospital device (digital/screen tracking). Actually, the measurements in the doctor's office show more variability than the Omron home device or the hospital's, probably because different individuals doing the estimates.

At home, I sit down for a few minutes. I always take the measurements first on the left arm, then on the right to see if they agree. If not, then I take the left again if there is more than a 10-point difference. My placement of the wraparound can make a significant change. Now that I've done this a few hundred times, my method is more consistent.

Always relate your pulse rate to the Blood presssure. For mre, I know I am dehydrated (blood volume) if my BP is less than 100/55 with 80+ pulse, Then I drink at least half a pint of pediatric electrolyte to boost the blood electrolyte concentration, and my body responds by asking fo more water to increaswe the blood volume so as to get the electrolyte concentration back where it belongs, hence rehydration stabilized. I found that just drinking more water only temporaritly relieves dehydration, and then only a little. If the electrolytes are already low the kidneys will get rid of the water I just drank to bring the electrolyte concentration back up, which just makes me again dehydrated with vertigo reappearing.

I keep some Dollar Store pediatric electrolyte ($1 per pint) or brand name PedialyteTM ($3 per pint) around in case my BP drops because of dehydration. But never if it is higher because I forgot to take my diuretic medicine.

The Omron home device has been priceless to keep me on track, especially when the weather is very hot and I work outside.

An article that I read recently said that the majority of BP readings in the doctor’s office are taken incorrectly using the wrong size sleeve and using wrong procedures.

You can read up on the accurate way to take your BP. Most physicians are pimping BP medications. Buyer beware of what country your medication was produced in, e.g., CHINA!! Anyone remember last week’s recall on Valsartan?

I think there’s a lot to what you posted. Often BP cuffs are tightened to past the point that it becomes painful. Naturally that will spike your BP. If the cuff is tight but not painful, the readings are always lower for me.

I use an Omron BP760N and have been very satisfied with it. Seems accurate.

Prior to that, I had two wrist models, one was by Reli-On, and I can’t remember the brand of the other one. Those were not good. They were somewhat consistent but always read far too low. I could estimate what my pressure really was by adding in how much I thought they were off by, but they didn’t inspire confidence in their readings.
