ESPN has found a way to keep from being in the middle of any national anthem controversies on their air this year by not putting it on their air.
According to Sara Fischer of Axios.com, ESPN president Jimmy Pitaro said their intention was to not show players doing whatever they may or may not be doing during the song during their Monday Night Football presentations.
We generally have not broadcasted the anthem and I dont think that will change this year. Our plan going into this year is to not broadcast the anthem, Pitaro said. Again that could change. Its unpredictable what could happen in the world but as of now, were not. We have communicated that back to the NFL. They have not asked but as courtesy and good partners we have let them know what our plans are.
Thats one way to avoid the attention, at least until the President decides to start tweeting at ESPN about how unpatriotic they are because he knows it riles up the people he wants riled.
Of course, its also reasonable to wonder whether Pitaro came up with this idea all on his own, or whether it stemmed from conversations with his good partner who very much wants this to go away.

Yeah, as if no one will notice. Or maybe the goal here is to get illegal aliens to become their broadcast audience. Thanks Red Badger.
FILM at 11 !!
They won’t show the kneeling players, but their announcers will spend most of the first period praising them.
who cares? I won’t be watching
We cut our expensive Comcast cable a year ago this past June!
We use Sling Blue as our main tv show provider.
Sling Blue does not carry ESPN, Disney or ABC.
So the America hating Gays, who control ESPN/Disney/ABC do not get a penny from us.
You get what you pay for, and ESPN, Disney and ABC get nada if you use Sling Blue.
We are now saving about $200/month by not using Comcast and not funding ESPN, Disney and ABC!
MAGA by not funding ESPN, Disney and ABC!
it is going to deprive the kneelers of a national audience.<<<
Yes!..depriving them of their rights....VERY RACIST!....Class action lawsuit is in order....lol....Come on!...Bite the hand that feeds ya...
Hey jackass NBC, Trump isn’t the one who is riling us up, it is the disrespectful black players and the mealy mouth owners and NFL commissioner that are doing that. NBC is very stupid if they think it is only Trump that is causing the problem.
No sweat I won’t watch MNFF!
But the anti-American scum sucking media maggots will be ruining even Little League eventually, and probably sooner than later.
I truly hate the bastards with a boiling passion.
What about the rest of us?
The whole issue is so stupid.
These Morons can do whatever they want ON THEIR OWN TIME.
When they are on the clock, they follow League Policy or they get fired.
THAT should be the argument coming from POTUS Trump on down.

You predicted that ESPN would not show the National Anthem?
You do realize that they never showed it, right?
Good job on predicting that ESPN would air the football games exactly as they have been doing for years. Who would have thought it?
It does not matter to me since I stopped watching the NFL while these grade school children are kneeling during the anthem. I will start watching again when the owners sack the clowns.
We lived in California until 1984. Monday Night Football was a social event back then. The games began at 6 oclsock and every bar had a happy hour. It made every weekend a 3-day affair. You could watch the game, have a good time and be home by 9 PM.
Ah, the good old days! Now if you go into a bar, everybody is glued to their smartphone 🙁
Cosell, Howard Cosell
darn auto co wreckd
;>)
True
I can imagine a different cable network putting on a very HQ national anthem at the same time ESPN isn’t. With the advert that ESPN watcher should change channels.
I have no problem wit black athletes doing their thing. They talk big when they don’t have to. The best athletes can back it up. The billionaire owners side with them. They know where their bread is buttered.
