RIP. She’ll be missed.
Forty years ago, she would regularly visit a Texas death row inmate. Don’t know if he was a relative or what but he was an old timer who was at Attica. She was polite and nice to the inmates and the guards. A kind lady.

RIP. Never a big fan of hers but her performance in The Blues Brothers was one of the best seen in any performance format, let alone movies. It really carried the show IMHO.

Queen of Soul is a moniker she earned and deserves. Anybody who listened to the radio in the 1960s and 70s knows this to be true. RIP Ms. Franklin.
