RIP. She’ll be missed.
Forty years ago, she would regularly visit a Texas death row inmate. Don’t know if he was a relative or what but he was an old timer who was at Attica. She was polite and nice to the inmates and the guards. A kind lady.

RIP. Never a big fan of hers but her performance in The Blues Brothers was one of the best seen in any performance format, let alone movies. It really carried the show IMHO.

She had an incredible voice. Nearly perfect control. My voice instructor told me once that what he loved about her was that she wasn’t a show off. She simply sang a song how she thought it should sound and if that involved doing something impossible for us mere mortals so be it.
