Ford’s next pickup may be a car.

The automaker, which plans to eliminate all of its four-door car models in the U.S. in favor of a mostly SUV and truck lineup, will introduce Focus-based compact pickup in 2020, Automobile reports.

Thanks for posting. I saw it on google images (unnamed) but didn’t know what I was looking at.

I thought it was really lame-looking.

This will go right up there with Cadillac pickup trucks as a completely useless vehicle.

Insanity indeed. But Ford hasn’t said if their pricier Lincoln sedans will be eliminated too. So if you really want a Ford-built sedan and you have the big bucks, there could be a Lincoln in your future.

The lines on the '79 are much like a Dodge Dakota convertible, my buddy drives one.

Has a similar look to the long gone Subaru Brat.

Mine won't be when I'm done spiffing it up. It will be, as the kids say, rad.

“I learned to drive in a Chevy LUV.”

So did my son.

At 16, he was having a hard time with the clutch, and stalled at a light with a line of cars behind him, all blowing their horns.

I got out of the passenger side and went around, took the drivers seat (without saying a word), and drove us on home.

He thought I was pissed, but I wasn’t. As we got out of the truck, I said, “Hey”...when he looked I tossed him the keys and said, “Get in that truck, and go driving, and don’t come back until you get the hang of that clutch.”.

I nervously awaited (before cellphones), and after about an hour and a half, he pulled in the driveway, which was a steep hill, and held that truck right in place.

After he got grown, every car he’s ever owned has been a straight shift.

And even though I didn’t realize it at the time, the trust I showed in him that day, meant a great deal to him.

When I learned to drive, it was on an old 1948 panel truck. I would sneak the truck and drive around and around the block when my Dad was not home. Lots of hills where I grew up, and I learned to handle the clutch very well.

I knew that being by oneself makes the learning easier - no parental pressure...so I gambled it on my son, and it worked.

I would like to drive a smaller truck but at six three barefoot and 235 lowfat pounds I feel cramped in my old ‘95 F-150 extended cab.

...I just found out that Ford does not make the E-350 series any longer...

Really? That's a shame. Earlier this year I took on a part-time job (mostly 'cause it's actually fun, but the extra $ don't hurt either). We use E-350s there and the things we ask them to do, the loads we carry, the terrain we drive them over... I'm impressed. I haven't been a Ford guy since giving up on my 97 F-150 XLT in 2006 or so. But these E-350s are beasts. When I need another vehicle I'll probably give the Ford lineup a serious look - something I haven't done since '06...

I would love to have a Ford Courier of 1950’s vintage. Especially a 1957 McCulloch supercharged model. Had a chance to buy one 35 years ago and let it slip cause I had no more room. What a horses a$$ I was.

We have two cars, my favorite is our 2018 F150 XLT with a 370 HP V8 and a 10 speed trans.

We’ve had several little pickups, the best being a Dodge D50 (over 325,000 miles) and the worst being a Nissan. This F150 when driven in Echo is just as easy on gas as the best of the little ones with the benefit of being large and comfortable.

Great story. My kids all know how to drive my 5-speed, but only one really took to it.

We had a couple lessons then he just headed out one day and drove around. We have a minor league baseball stadium near us. I think he spent some time there then hit the road.
