Her husband called neighbors and friends who searched the area. They were unable to locate her and call 911. Sheriff’s deputies and search and rescue were sent to the scene. Within hours she was discovered deceased on the side of an unused road within the development. An investigation was conducted with the assistance of the Medical Examiner’s Office, NC Wildlife Resources Commission and Animal Control. The investigation revealed she had been attacked by dogs. Law enforcement searched the neighborhood and located two pit bull dogs with physical evidence reflecting the dog’s involvement.

The pit bull attacks I hear of near DFW are always in predominately black or Mexican areas of town. The last dog attack I saw on the news in Dallas, the PD and AC went in and euthanized every dog that was on the street (something like a dozen dogs). This was in South Dallas.
I live in the sticks/small town and there are a lot of pitbull types and crosses (I have one). Yes, my county is predominately anglo/saxon/white. Only dogs doing the biting around here are Chihuahuas.

It had to be mentioned; these dog attacks are mostly in the ghetto/barrio. I know that makes me sound racist, but it is what I have seen/heard on the local news. And it is true.

Rotweillers kill too. They are second only to pitbulls.

Many of these cases are irresponsible owners who don’t take proper care of them, ignore signs that they are aggressive, allow they to get lose and roam without concern, etc. Yes, there are cases where sometimes someone’s pit bull snaps, but I have read cases where German Shepherds, Mastiffs, etc. have done so and killed people. It’s hard with pit bulls as they are really a hybrid mix of a variety of breeds often and there are more of them out there than a lot of other breeds. Most shelters are filled with them.

I've been bitten by one dog. It was many, many moons ago. It belonged to the postmistress. It was one of those little ankle-biting, frou-frou lap dogs. And it did just that, bit my ankle. I ran away, screaming like a little girl. My only excuse: I was one at the time.

Didn't used to, but we have a number of pits in the area where we live now. Not all are owned by people of color. Some of the dogs get loose on occasion. One has even gone after our postal delivery person. He ran, too. I've never had a conversation with any of the folks who own these dogs. Considering how poorly behaved their animals are, I'm thinking their humans aren't any better.

A Rottweiler killed our cat. It dug under a 6 ft privacy fence to get in my yard to kill it. But too is “actually gentle and is great with people.”

Any one who owns this dangerous breed and lets it run wild in the street should be charged to the full extend the law permits .Its like owning a loaded gun and not knowing where it's located at all time . These dogs are so dangerous the insurance companies won’t insurance your home.
In New Orleans this breed are dumped in the dog parks over night so you had to watch for that every morning . The NO shelters do not take Pit Bulls after Katrina issues. I don't recall this dog being that prevalent 20 yrs ago.

The house cat does not have the capacity to eat you but the pit bull does. The breed has good dogs and bad dogs, but when pit bulls go bad they are really dangerous. They are stronger and have a better bite.

I’ve had a stroke and try to walk a mile alone everyday. There is a pit bull that roams my neighborhood and no one seems to know who owns it. I’ve even asked the postman. So now I don’t walk outside anymore.

Over the years, we’ve had several people with pit bulls move in on my my street. Always renters. Always driving POS cars. They double-park, have the burn-out contests in the street, build a living room in their garage, shoot off fireworks for every possible holiday, get a lot of cop visits, etc. This isn’t a scientific study.

No, I’m thinking that we should get medieval on the heinies of anyone involved in anything to do with dogfighting, and charge owners of dogs that harm/kill humans with felony assault and/or manslaughter.

Which is the only thing some folks understand.
