Picking up on some of his radio conversations with ATC, he said he wanted to go see that Orca whale that’s carrying its dead calf in nearby waters, which made me think he has liberal tendencies. But another time he mentioned that he wouldn’t get a break because he’s a white guy. A confused individual either way.
I had similar fixed wing time to you but never did get the MS 747 back on the ground in one piece (after trying an hour or so; this was back with an early version of FS).

Later owned many civilian birds and flew steady 1969-1992
From Bonanzas to King Air 100 and a leased Starship and one of the last Duke roll offs
And he owned some warbirds
He said the same thing you just did...give him time to acquaint with controls and he could land anything short of a carrier landing
He had a few emergency landings under his belt including a fuel issue oddly enough near where Skynyrd went down but he was in a Baron and it was daylight..landed on Miss Hwy 24
Another one was as a fighter pilot in an F86 in of all places a sewage lagoon dead stick
He taught me to fly a bit enough to handle the smaller birds if he was ill
Would have liked to hear him tell of his experiences.
He was quiet except about planes and football and history
And my mom.
