And in Lovelocks view, the Earths self-regulating system is seriously out of whack, thanks largely to our 150-year fossil fuel binge. You could quite seriously look at climate change as a response of the system intended to get rid of an irritating species: us humans, Lovelock told me in 2007 when I visited him at his house in Devon, England, for a profile in Rolling Stone. Or at least cut them back to size.
By 2020, droughts and other extreme weather will be commonplace. By 2040, the Sahara will be moving into Europe, and Berlin will be as hot as Baghdad. Atlanta will end up a kudzu jungle. Phoenix will become uninhabitable, as will parts of Beijing (desert), Miami (rising seas) and London (floods). Food shortages will drive millions of people north, raising political tensions. The Chinese have nowhere to go but up into Siberia, Lovelock says. How will the Russians feel about that? I fear that war between Russia and China is probably inevitable. With hardship and mass migrations will come epidemics, which are likely to kill millions. By 2100, Lovelock believes, the Earths population will be culled from todays 6.6 billion to as few as 500 million, with most of the survivors living in the far latitudes Canada, Iceland, Scandinavia, the Arctic Basin.

Rolling Stone to Pay $1.65 Million to Fraternity Over Discredited Rape Story
That’s good news since 75% of earth is under water now an therefore uninhabitable. 50% would be an improvement.
How about offering all the liberals a one way ticket to Alpha Centauri? I bet we could do it, and the lack of socialism on Earth resulting would pay for the spaceship.
If we could convince them the world was ending, and get a few generations of Trumps in the White House over the next couple decades,,, I bet most liberals would go for it!
This uselessly stupid prediction based on computer models that are demonstrably fundamentally flawed. They have about the same chance of getting climate conditions right that far in the future as they do of picking who the President will be then too. Exact name, etc. And yes, that President’s grandparents are probably going on their first date right about now...
Most of the Earth will be uninhabitable by 2100 due to Islam.
A fairly safe assumption since 70% of the earth’s surface is covered with water; which renders it uninhabitable.
My kids grew up in the North. They like the heat... especially if it is a dry heat. /S
The way I see it, most of the people who will perish arent really making the world a better place as it is.
To paraphrase P.J. ORourke, overpopulation is defined as, Just enough of me. Way too much of you.
And the Rolling Stones will still be on tour.
Don’t you realize that open borders are essential to fight climate change or something?
But ice ages are necessary to combat climate change.
Because climate change is hot, but ice is cool.
It’s scientific!
Rolling Stone will not be around to see it.
I look forward to having a new continent to explore when the ice melts in Antarctica.
These people are incapable of embarrassment.
The more their BS is discredited, the more shrill and extreme their predictions of disaster become.
The earth is already uninhabitable.
We all died in 1992.
It is also fascinating for what they missed. Ronald Reagan. The fall of the Soviet Union, 9-11, the Internet, AIDS.
Bottom line. Anyone who paints a picture of the future is almost 99% likely to be wrong. Humans can't predict the future. I mean, imagine the future had Hillary won. I key nexus in history that could have easily went the other way. History is chock full of them. And, well, ya never know...
Our computer says so. Its not science but it is the best we got so we are going to try to scare the hell out of people so we can lie our way to complete control of every aspect of their lives.
Lenin and every other despot who ever lived wish they had thought of it.
The last one was actually being said loudly in 1992.
Most of the "by 2100" predictions are unmitigated crap
Except my marrying Hillary Clinton in 2045 and being elected President in 2062 for three terms.
I am going to edmonton and head north about 150 miles to buy farmland. Who wants in?
