New w York City police say a man jumped out of a popular Upper West Side eaterys walk-in freezer, grabbed a knife and started attacking employees, then died at a hospital on Sunday morning.
The incident happened at the height of the brunch rush around 11 a.m. at Sarabeths Restaurant on Amsterdam Avenue at West 80th Street, New York television station WCBS reported.
Police say the kitchen staff did not recognize the person, described by NYPD as a 54-year-old man who did not work at the restaurant; the man also wasn't a former employee.
Sarabeths staff told police they did not know how the man got into the freezer.

I knew there was some reason I never liked to go into the walk-in when I worked in restaurants...that said, I’d be surprised if this was the freezer and not the walk-in refrigerator. If he was in the freezer for any length of time, he’d have been completely unable to “jump out” of it!
