9-year-old robbed (at gunpoint) at lemonade stand
Fox 46 ^ | August 5, 2018 | Matt Jacobs

A 9-year-old boy was robbed at his lemonade stand in Union County Saturday afternoon.

The Union County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to the entrance of St. John's Forest around 3 p.m.

Deputies say the boy was approached by a black male teen wearing a camouflague hat and black shirt. The teen allegedly stuck a black handgun to the boys stomach and demanded the money. The teen then fled on foot and the boy was not hurt.

Deputies searched the area and found a trail in the woods nearby where the hat, black BB handgun, and a metal tin that contained the cash was found. Deputies believe the suspect left a bicycle and walked from there to the lemonade stand before the robbery.

If anyone has any information you're asked to call Union County Crime Stoppers.

A future Michael Brown. He’ll probably end up the same way.

I don’t doubt it is the Oxy abuse capital, which is sad.

However, it isn’t all darn hippies...as described below. My wife and I stayed for a week at a working dairy farm which was a cross between a dairy dude ranch and a bed and breakfast...it was great. They could have around 15 guests at a time...no Internet...no television...:) While we were there, there were two families, one had three kids, the other had six!

A young, good looking clean cut guy came each day at around 3:30 PM and began working the cows. I walked around with him, asking him questions. He looked to be a senior in high school. He said he loved the work. I asked him if he grew up on a dairy farm, and he said no, but his sister dated one of the farmer’s sons, and they asked him once if he wanted some work, and...now that is his livelihood. It is what he wants to do for work. He seemed like a real American kid, and not a leftist snowflake. Just a guy maybe a senior her perhaps a year or two out, no tattoos, nose rings, long hair and weird clothes. Short, clean haircut, blue jeans and polo shirt. And he just went to work and did the job.

While I was at that farm, they had several calves birthed each day, and they would stick the calf in the front of a front loader with one of the employees, and take it up to the row of calf pens. (I think they had one working bull and several hundred cows...a busy male indeed!)

It was odd and new to me, but it all seemed quite businesslike.

Later in the day, as I sat on the porch watching, one of the employees went to clean the pens, looked in, and waved to the farmer who was perhaps 100 yards away, and when she got his attention, she drew her finger across her throat.

They just got the front loader, put the calf in it, and took it down to a ditch they dug and buried it. That was it. Very businesslike.

But they completely did not have to use any force at all that I saw the entire time they were there. They pretty much just steered the cows where they wanted them to go, and when they were done, steered them somewhere else.

At some point, a number of the cows broke out and went up to the pens that had the calves. They just walked up to the cows, and led the all back to the cow shed.

They seemed like contented cows, and the staff seemed very unstressed. Even when a couple of pigs got out, the farmer just matter of factly got them back into their pen.

The whole workflow seemed extremely structured, predictable and a bit quiet and sedate. 4 AM to 10 AM, milking #1. 4 PM to 10 PM, milking #2. All kinds of steady work and cleaning in between.

Very different pace of work. It didn’t appear to be back breaking work, but it was 100% steady and paced.

I think I could understand how someone could love that work. My work is hair on fire work. I didn’t see a lot of things to make your hair catch on fire there.

But seeing that young man, talking to him...it gave me hope. It made me think America can still produce real Americans.

I have been lucky enough to travel by road over many parts of this country, and one of the things I have noticed, is there is a distinct change going from state to state in many places where you think there wouldn’t be.

Two states are in the same geographical area, and should be the same, but...they just aren’t. It strikes me as odd, but it is true.

For example, I went on a road trip a few years back because I was going to lose vacation time, and my wife didn’t have any, so...I jumped in my car, drove down from New England to Kentucky with the goal of driving out to the Four Corners Monument in Utah. Just made it up as I went along, no real plan.

In Kentucky, though, I realized I wouldn’t make it. I simply didn’t have enough time. So I thought “I’ve never been to Nebraska before. Where can I go and just closed my eyes and put my finger on a map. (My finger landed on a town that was known because a homosexual was murdered there by two guys, Humboldt, and I picked again and landed on Tecumseh, named that by the citizens who were offended that the Army officer who killed Tecumseh had named the town after his mistress, so they voted to change it to Tecumseh!)

Anyway, leaving Missouri and entering Nebraska was, to me like night and day. Nebraska just seemed more...blue collar, work oriented. Couldn’t put my finger on it, but there was no doubt it was a cultural change in nearly every way at the state line.

And that is how it is to me up in New England. When you leave Massachusetts, you KNOW you are in New Hampshire. It LOOKS different. And when you leave New Hampshire and enter Vermont, again it looks completely different. The roads themselves look different. The farms, signs, everything just seems...different when you cross that state line.

And I noticed the when I left Vermont and entered New York. It was less...charming, and a bit grittier and more businesslike. The buildings, everything just looks and feels different.

I do agree it is an attractive area (upstate)...my wife and I drove up to Lake Placid a few years back in February, and there was a long stretch where we didn’t see any other cars for what felt like an hour. We came around a corner on the highway and were confronted by the vision of a 18 wheeler that had lost control, gone off the road, slid down the icy snow covered median on it side, and came to rest. It looked undamaged except that it was on its side, and the front windows of the cab were both gone.

It looked like they planned to just leave it there until spring...it was totally desolate and odd looking to see!

Local snewz had a follow up on this.

The Capitalist Kiddo is back at His Stand selling away.

One of the Hardware Store Chains here in My City gave this Guy a NEW Riding Mower. That’s why He was selling lemonade, so He could buy one.

Still no Arrest.

I’m guessing the scumbag punk stole the BB Gun and probably the hat as well.

Union Cty, NC near Charlotte.

VT may not be all hippies, but the governor just signed new gun-grabber legislation. Very sad.

Here’s an update on this story - the thug who robbed the lemonade stand has been arrested:

https://www.wral.com/police-make-arrest-in-north-carolina-lemonade-vendor-robbery/17756033/

Deputies: Arrest made in lemonade stand stickup

“The suspect’s identity was being withheld under North Carolina law. Detectives working with the state’s Department of Juvenile Justice obtained petitions charging the juvenile with robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia, authorities said.”

So it was a teen thug on drugs who did this.....

More from the article:

“A business card that one customer collected from the lemonade stand said Mark (the lemonade stand owner) also works as a lawn mower, dog walker and professional ring bearer.

A person who responded to a text sent to the telephone number listed on Mark’s business card said Tuesday that the boy was selling lemonade again Sunday at a community pool and had collected more than $250 in donations.

Home-improvement chain Lowe’s subsequently gave the boy a new, $1,100 riding mower on Monday after spokeswoman Sarah Lively said officials at the company’s headquarters near Charlotte saw news reports about the robbery.”

A great young Capitalist who is not intimidated by thugs! He has a great future.

See post 75. An arrest has now been made of this lemonade stand robber - but his name is not allowed to be made public according to NC laws since the perp is a teen.

Darwin Laureate in training. Odds against him getting to 21 and be breathing.

Indeed.

Ability to weigh the negative press of sticking up a nine-year-old against the paltry proceeds of a lemonade stand is an essential milestone of human evolution.

This Young Man is quite the Little Business Man, puts some positive hope for Our Country’s future.

?What is with the miles/Km in the story?

Thank You for the PING.

You’re very welcome.

I know = will the teen thug ever see jail. I hope so. He did use a gun...that should be enough to put him in jail.
