Murphy Brown creator Diane English says she may need to get security protection as she works on the return to CBS of the biting political comedy series.
I might have to have some protection, English told reporters in a scrum after her shows Q&A panel at TCA. Im not kidding. English referenced the scary times in which the show is coming back with original episodes after two decades.
The very first episode, which takes place on November 8, 2016, really sticks our head into the lions mouth, said star Candice Bergen, boasting, This show has no fear of anyone.
These scary times includes a death threat to CNN on-air talent phoned in to C-span by a Trump supporter that Brian Stelter played on his CNN program. New York Times columnist Bret Stephens similarly revealed a threat from someone warning, I dont carry an AR but once we start shooting you f*ckers you arent going to pop off like you do now Stephens warned President Donald Trump will have blood on his hands if his enemy-of-the-people attacks on journalists pushes a supporter to such extreme violence.

I’d tell her to get herself a gun, but she probably lives in a gun-grabbing state.
First episode takes place on election night 2016. Like we haven’t already seen enough liberal heads explode. Never watched it when it was on the first time. Won’t waste my time this time around either.
They’re reliving the glory years but are as culturally relevant as Dan Quayle now.
Why bother?
Need protection? Is she going to make her characters Pro-Life Catholics?
If not, I’m sure they’ll be safe.
A hoax that was perpetuated by the anchor themselves (or someone close).
Don’t flatter yourself. No have no need of any protection. Your show will not last long and no one cares about your Left Wing Liberal propaganda any more. The viewing for TV has so many other choices that your out of date show will a very aged cast, most in their 60’s and 70’s, will not be of interest to watch, especially for a younger audience who does not even know who or what Murphy Brown was about.
You might be interested in that Edgar Bergen left his daughter $0 in his will. They evidently were estranged when he died. In fact he thought more of his alter ego, his dummy, Charlie McCarthy and left a note saying so.
Just some hype to generate viewership.
To Diane English: Get over your stupid, vain self.
Maybe she could use a ‘comedy’ writer with some experience in politics. Thanks EdnaMode.

It will last about 2 seconds if it’s just another Trump bashing show.
Steve Scalise.
That had to leave a mark, Daddy issues!
While Sorkin did tilt left it was not the F-— Trump sort we now get. In fact a number of the characters articulated right of center views on issues. One episode ‘To The Unknown Soldiers’ delivered a straight punch in the nose to the Alger Hiss fan club and also offered a really inspiring message on the ‘unknown soldiers’ who fell in ‘the long twilight struggle’.
I had to look that back up to see something and I found Bergen not only didn’t leave Candace nothing, he left his dummy Charlie McCarthy $10,000 in the will.
Charlie McCarthy? Of the Charlie McCarthy Hearings?
