Woman's warning to pit bull owners after "gentle" dog launched sudden vicious attack which cost her an ARM
WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT. Yasmin Adam was left lying in a pool of blood after her pet savaged her flesh then chewed on her bone.
Yasmin said she used to allow Sir Hinkles to sleep in her bed every night.
Doctors at Broward General Hospital, Florida, battled to save Yasmin's left arm for three weeks before it was decided that amputation was the only way forward.
She said: "It was the most painful thing I've ever experienced in my life.
"I could see the bone clear as day. Eventually, they amputated it from just above my elbow on December 26.
"I'm just working on getting my right arm functional again. He ripped that arm apart too, but not as badly.
After that he attacked me on and off for nine minutes. The dog ripped all the meat off my lower left arm, and that's gone now.
"I just stopped fighting the dog. I figured I was going to die. He kept trying to pull the bone out of my arm."

Conversely and expanded, you should never trust a young child (or a drunk) 100% of the time around any dog.
My first thought of these pictures was that these dogs were dreaming about lunch.
its not hate, and its not anti dog. its reality..want to balance out,
google victims of pit bull attacks
post those images...
Good that your dog followed command. That is not the situation in a mauling though. In those situations, commands go unheeded. The owners invariably say, I don’t understand, my pitbull would not listen to my commands. Time bombs do not listen to commands when they go off.
Glad you are safe and the person did not prevail in court. Terrible how messed up things are that a burglar can even get a court date over something like that.
My issue is pit bulls are not the only hazardous dog, any large dog that is not easily controlled if need be is a hazard to humans.
When Malamutes were popular in the 70s a friend of mine got a puppy- really nice, smart, easy to train, family friendly. Seemed to be a great dog, all the way to adult dog. One day the dog full out attacked her mother when her mother took out the trash. It was unbelievable to hear about it, I was around that dog nearly every day- it never showed a sign of any aggressive behavior toward people or other animals. They had a small poodle and a cat and the Malamute had never shown any aggression toward them. The dog was not even really a reliable watch dog to bark when people came to the house.
My friend’s mother was a tiny woman, she was lucky to survive the attack from the dog. My friend’s father shot the dog. No one had a clue what happened. It was so bizarre.
I did notice the Malamute fad was pretty short lived so maybe others had issues.
You could be absolutely right, but I have looked around a little and am having a hard time finding instances of a verifiably trained pit snapping and mauling owners. It seems like untrained dogs who are ‘always sweet and gentle’ mostly as far as I can find, and any sort of training or its lack isn’t mentioned.

No thanks. I'll leave the fear and hate mongering to you dog killers.
..And to you as well. Freeregards.
Contain, Control, Maintain, Train and Socialize
There are many new stories every day of dog attacks by a variety of dog types/breeds
and every one of them can be analyzed to find out how an owner failed in their responsibility.
All dogs have teeth and are potentially dangerous.
The larger the dog and/or the smaller/younger and frailer/older the victim, the greater the potential damage the dog may cause.
All dog attacks are unacceptable.
Yep, on several occasions. Once while riding a road bike.
Yes and to date one of the most terrifying moments of my life. It came up behind and bit me. I stopped dead. It kept lunging and growling wanting me to run. I stood stock still until a neighbor noticed and got the owner.
A child woukd have run and that dog would have mauled him/her. I couldn’t walk down the street for five years. Now I carry a gun and a big stick. But the never relax and enjoy my walks because I know it could happen again.
Balance that would show concern for and alert people to the danger of attacks from all types/breeds of dogs and would recommend ways to avoid all attacks.
You do care about people attacked by all types/breeds of dogs, correct?
New footage shows the moment a killer dog was dragged from home where it mauled a child to death
...and perhaps append this to the report...How can we reduce the risk of dog attacks?
Use attacks to drive home the message of the Principles of Responsible Dog Ownership.
Here's one that clearly shows what was not done to prevent an attack.

Which of the Principles did the owners fail to implement?.... Contain, Control, Maintain, Train or Socialize?
Here's one with quotes from a vet and the police that folks might find helpful...

Here's one containing advice on how to avoid dog attacks...
Runners should be mindful of dogs
Perhaps you're concerned about dog-fighting and would like to raise awareness about it while condemning it. Here's a good one to post.
Pit bulls found chained, with broken teeth, scars from dogfights. Now, NC man is paying.
These took me about 35 minutes to find and format from my dog attacks alerts received today.
Have a Nice Evening
It’s amazing how much money is spent on pets, supposedly 60+ billion per year, while again supposedly only 5% of dog owners bother to train their animals. At least those are the numbers I could find. Trained dogs are happy dogs and the people around them are happy. Untrained dogs are miserable and make the people around them miserable.
Do you think trained pits suddenly snap and maul their owners?
Freegards
No other breed causing such death or difigurement. It is not even close.
Only 5% of the U.S. and Canadian dog population are pit bulls. But in the past nine years, pit bulls have accounted for 80% of the dogs involved in fatal and disfiguring attacks, resulting in two-thirds of the deaths and disfigurements.
You simply have no valid argument. And your attempt to deflect away from pitbulls is off subject. The subject in pitbulls and how dangerous they are when allowed to be in the general public.
Sleeping with your dog, like a litter mate, is as foolish as it gets. No alpha dominance in that dog training program. That should be the warning here, not the “gentle dog” narrative. Huge mistake. All kisses and cuddles while rover is plotting his takeover at the right time.
That is poor consolation to victims of attacks by other dogs.
Again, you are changing the subject - not to mention using cheap and tacky debate tactics.
Should I ask you why you have no compassion for a two-year-old that had her face chewed off?
What about having pit bulls patrolling our southern border?
Dang! That’s funny!
