Authorities received a call just after 1 a.m. about three people involved in a fight in a parking lot between Avenida Granada and Avenida Victoria,...
[A] spokesperson later told KTLA that they were involved in a confrontation against two men and a woman.
One of the men stabbed all three Marines, a 23-year-old and two 21-year-olds, who were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life threatening...
The suspect and his two friends were at a hospital, where they were detained, the agency added.

My FIL was a drill sergeant in the Army. He told about how after the recruits received hand-to-hand combat training they would go into town and get their butts kicked by the locals.
And that is why marines are given rifles

Umm, wrong neighborhood? The MLK avenue of the barrio?
FIRST lesson in ‘Life as a Marine’ -
for the real lucky ones -
is when a couple of them go to the Greyhound Bus Station with all their Bravado & Swagger and decide to use their ‘newfound’ manness on the Old Boatswain or Gunner that sneers at them and finds out they CAN’T beat the world with one hand behind their back.
Usually when over, that old E5 with the 3 or 4 hashmarks will take the BNPVT/PFC out for a drink and have a ‘friend’ forever..
That was then, this is now...<: <:
One evening my roommate from Officers Training School was stopped at a stoplight near the Alamo in San Antonio. Out of nowhere an hombre reached through the window and cut him with a straight razor from his ear to his chin. Finished OTS with a face full of stitches. That was in 1963.
My nephew was an Army Ranger who had spent a lot of time in middle and high school in Tae Kwon Do. My older brother once asked him if that proved useful in his Ranger training. He sort of laughed and said “Not really”. TKD is a sport. In the Rangers he was taught to disable and kill people as quickly and efficiently as possible. Confronted with a knife I expect he’d at least have pulled his own and dispatched the guy in a couple seconds, or just shot the MF if making noise wasn’t an issue. I doubt even the Marines go much beyond the very basics in hand to hand and, especially if they’re a bit or beyond drunk, are going to be surprised and over confident in a street fight. It takes years, not weeks, of training and practice for instinct and muscle memory to kick in in high stress situations. Very glad all three of these guys are alive and able to learn from the experience.

It's looks like the bar/booze and party area of San Clemente.
Things got a little better when the city did some ethnic cleansing of the area south of there to make space for the World's Fair. LBJ cut loose federal Urban Renewal funds to lighten the complexion of the area.
No fancy footwork, no clever moves. Just hit em fast and hard.
My favorite example:
Love it!
Trump is kind of the Epic Beard Man of American politics - his enemies never saw him coming and have no idea how to back off of their ill-advised assaults. :)
I think this writer needs to go back to school. It does not make sense to me.
Put a beat-down on that feral!
River Walk. It was a pretty nasty ciudad in those days and earlier.
The wino was feral.
No MLK Blvd. in San Clemente, thank goodness.
Question: Who would win a fight between a professional boxer and the town drunk?
Answer: The one who has the element of surprise.
Cool video...all my favorite actors and movies!
