For full disclosure I am also invested in SpaceX
Link verifying a profit at any of his firms?
Musk is piling money into R&D. SpaceX would be profitable if he wasn’t investing in the BFR. On the point made by another poster regarding government “handouts”, every big company gets handouts of some kind or another. Corporate welfare is a real thing. Hell, even companies you’d think would get zero (like chemical companies) get massive breaks and benefits. Have a problem Tesla and SpaceX? then have one with any fortune 1000 company. Basically, it’s a non issue.
Why would I *try* to run down the TSLA stock price? I don’t have any shorts on that stock or any other, currently own zero puts on any stocks and I’m sure some of my passive funds own some TSLA shares. I’ve never bought or sold a single share of TSLA. The fundamentals simply aren’t there. It’s a business that never would have existed without government, has lots billions and billions in the last 5 years even with that, and has consistently missed guidance and expectations over and over.
“And yes, they never did publish what their 2017 results were from...hmmmm...still yet to prove they have made any money.”
The president has stated that they are now profitable.
You out of McGregor? Two ways to be invested in SpaceX, via Alphabet or be an employee.
” I dont have any shorts on that stock “
You have zero credibility...
Alphabet
Ah - maybe - depending on the definition of “profitable” - as in is she refering to gaap net income - real profit, not adjusted pro forma EBIT or adjusted EBITDAR, and possible for one quarter or two. As they haven’t put out their books, it’s impossible to know, but I’ll bet a dollar its an adjusted # that’s not net income.
Cool deal! Musk could make a fortune if he did a SpaceX IPO. I understand why he hasn’t though. Mars versus appeasing Wall street.
I have said over and over in this thread I only do passive investments besides real estate and the $250k in stock I own in my current company that I’m required to own to match at least 1x my base salary. After going through a T10 MBA and doing the research, its crystal clear that passive investing is the way to go.
“The fundamentals simply arent there.”
7000 cars a week at 20+% margin.
Cash-flow positive SolarCity.
Designer surfboards flying off the shelves.
Battery factory at full production.
World’s first autonomous vehicle AI CHIP
$10,000 per vehicle tax subsidy in a California. Hundreds of millions in selling ZEV credits. Billion dollars from Nevada to build battery factory in Reno. Living off the government teat
Boring company will make some bucks too... Remember what the BIG DIG cost? Boring could do similar, faster and cheaper.
“After going through a T10 MBA and doing the research, its crystal clear that passive investing is the way to go.”
For the average joe.
Like every large corporation including EVERY defense contractor. At least with SpaceX you get something in return instead of 5k toilet seats.
Dude, your link I quoted has them with a bundle of cash and no debt.
SolarCity's last 10K had a negative $0.5 billion loss from cash from operations. It's positive overall cash was from raising capital (aka debt). Methinks you do not understand how to read a 10-K or 10-Q.
That doesn’t mean they are making money. It just means they raised a ton of equity series rounds that were successful.
No, the research shows that over the long run, passive investing massively outperforms active investing. There is a reason in the last 20 years, the stock market has massively, massively shifted to passive funds.
