In Femail magazine a couple of weeks ago, Natasha Pearlman, who is eight months pregnant, wrote about how shocked she had been by the lack of consideration now given to pregnant women by men in Britain, especially on public transport.
A man had been rude to her for walking too slowly and holding him up as she made her way through a London Tube station, and he wasnt the least bit remorseful either when she confronted him over it.
She also recounted a recent experiment carried out by a blogger who wore a fake pregnancy bump to test how many people would offer her a seat. Not many was the conclusion.

Many years ago I saw an older man open the door for a woman. She was insulted and asked in a condescending and accusatory tone, “Are you holding the door open because I’m a woman?”
Unperturbed and with a gentle smile on his face, he said, “No, I’m holding the door open because I’m a gentleman.”
That moment has stuck with me since then. When men stop acting like gentlemen, then the libs have won. I know that when the time comes to meet my Maker, I will only have to answer for what I did, and not for how other people reacted to what I did.
Further considering your original post, the Scout supervisor shouldn’t have acted offended.
Could have been he was trying to show off in front of his scouts.
He should have graciously accepted your declining of his offered help.
As I said I saw your point as well.
No harm no foul.
Well, that's the Social Marxist lie they have been deliberately fed in schools. It's working - the Communists must be delighted at the social dysfunction they have wrought.
We go on your plan of opening doors for everyone, regardless. The first person to a door holds it for the next several people.
“She can get knocked up by someone with a car next time.”
Well played. I had to try hard not to laugh out loud in my cubicle.
“That moment has stuck with me since then. “
What leftists never ‘got’ is that chivalry wasn’t about controlling women. It has always been about controlling men. And that is a good thing for women, trust me.
I have two sons, one twenty-one and the other sixteen. They have been taught you open and hold doors for women and the elderly or if someone has their arms full of groceries etc...
I have also told them some women may turn on them for it if they do just apologize and tell them sorry I usually only do this for ladies and walk off and not to let one or two horses a$$e$ deter them from being gentleman.
LOL!....I'm gonna remember that!...........
They could also say, "I do this for ALL elderly people."..............
I open doors for everyone and give up train seats to women.. I don’t care how they respond. Most are grateful.
I’d offer my seat to a female but I don’t want to risk giving it to a bitch.
There, I said it.
A gentleman always offers his seat
a lady accepts (if she is not about to get off at the next stop)
a bitch never accepts.
The offer is because you are a gentleman, not because she is a woman.
(see also: offering you seat to an older person)
my 2 cents
“Hey, can I offer you my seat? You’re obviously heavy with child.”
“I’m not pregnant. That’s merely my muffin top and my side muffins, you inconsiderate creep!”
See? Not worth it.
I believe you may be right...And the appropriate response from a gentleman to your polite decline is a tip o’ the hat and a “Good Day, Ma’am”...At least, that’s what my Irish Mother taught me when I was just a tad...
If you were wearing a stylish hat, I’d let you carry my camping gear!
