The American couple murdered in an ISIS-claimed car attack in Tajikistan quit their office jobs last year and were in the midst of pursuing their lifelong dream of cycling around the world when they were killed.
Jay Austin and Lauren Geoghegan, both 29 and living in Washington, DC, chronicled their adventures on a blog called Simply Cycling where they wrote that theyd decided to take on the globe on two wheels, because life is short and the world is big and we want to make the most of our youth and good health before theyre gone.

They go on the Darwin list, right after the guy who replaced a car fuse with a .22 round...
“American couple killed in terror attack were on dream trip around the world”
harsh lesson: most of the world is a harsh place and hate Americans ...
Strangely enough, they should have known that. The left constantly reminds us what a horrible country this is, and how the rest of the world hates us.
You must be fun to live with. LOL
>>Very naive liberals. The type that go to strange dangerous foreign lands wearing their shorts and sandals.<<
I read about this yesterday but what crossed my mind was “typically stupid liberals.”
Apparently he left a far larger footprint than he had imagined.
>>Its eye opening when you love the world and suddenly find out that the world doesnt love you back.<<
And sometimes, as these two idealists found out the hard way, it can be “eye closing”.
The longer I live, the more I am thankful for my father’s teachings about life.
>>Thats a reasonable possibility. Austin worked at HUD, and Geoghegan worked at the admissions office at Georgetown.<<

>>Why travel to F***astan ?<<
Virtue signaling, which quite often has unintended (and sometimes painful) consequences.
Im more of a Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, various National Parks/ Forests kind of person. I understand that people like to visit such places as cities but I never got why. .
Damn, that guy practically radiated estrogen!
Sometimes one’s purpose on earth is to be an example to other people of what NOT to do with your life.
“A wise man learns from the mistakes of others.” Perhaps their example will convince others not to travel to these countries.
>> Lets not assume that people cycling across the largest connected landmass on our planet are automatically liberal.<<
Agreed. Sometimes they’re just STUPID!
Stupid is supposed to hurt.

He ended up leaving a blood stained grease spot in the dirt of Murderistan.
I’m sure it did, for a few moments.
>> The important lesson from this is that people who refuse to face reality are dangerous to themselves and—of much greater importance—are dangerous to other people.
We see this on a national level in the USA today.
If they were satisfied merely to endanger themselves, it would be unfortunate, but they must not be allowed to endanger other people.
Their entire delusional movement must be brought to a halt and never allowed to endanger innocent people again.
This is what the Trump Revolution is all about.<<
Worthy of being plastered on billboards all across our great country. MAGA!!!
>>I wonder what their last thoughts were,
That this was somehow Trumps fault?<<
Wouldn’t surprise me at all to find their friends and relatives thinking that very thing.
