Hell of a sail, Vikings are from the Atlantic, Inuits from the Pacific.

But according to my former Black Studies professor (yes, I actually took a graduate course) - whites were living in caves and had to be taught how to spin yarn from the "African Pharaohs."

But when it came to spinning a yarn, nobody could compete with the Vikings.

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either satire or opinion. Or both.)

My buds at my local pub think I spin a pretty good yarn.

The Egyptians were using tools to twist fibers into rope 5,000 to 6,000 years ago. I cannot imagine that twisting fibers into yarn for clothing came long after that. The technology may have been slow, but the basic idea must be extremely old, and it should have spread quickly with trade.
