Vogel's fiance, John Michael Keyser, told NorthJersey.com that the chef's "heart gave out" while receiving treatment for colitis at a local hospital. Colitis is a disease which causes inflammation in the digestive tract.
Vogel studied culinary arts at Johnson & Wales. She auditioned for the Gordon Ramsay-hosted show while working at a creperie and bakery in California, NorthJersey.com reported.
She also worked as a pastry chef for chef Christine Nunn at Grange in Westwood. She recently worked as the executive chef of Black Rebel Burger in Hackensack, N.J. before it shut down last year.
"When she set her mind on something there was no way to stop her," the obituary read.
It went on to reveal that Vogel battled issues with alcohol and drugs.
"She recently committed to living a better life and had graduated from an inpatient rehabilitation program with hopes of regaining control of her life," her family stated in the obituary. "Unfortunately, the damage done over the years was too great and she died, like she lived, a fighter."

Food service and bartending are rife with cocaine and that’s hard on the heart not to mention pocketbook, all too many end up with their gross profit going up their noses can’t meet payroll don’t withhold and off to prison they go, that or they die. Not saying that’s the case here, just sayin’
Please try not to miss the point.
A better question would be what is the connection between tv/radio personalities and the deep state.
I’ve known a couple of former professional restaurant chefs...it’s a horribly stressful life. One of them started as an alcoholic on the railroad, and died as one after he retired from his second career as a chef. The other managed to avoid substance abuse (as far as I know), but finally burned out after about 10 years, and went back to school to pursue a new life. His stories about life on “the line” in a professional kitchen are both amazing and appalling.
May God grant her peace.
Poor thing. When she was eliminated she begged for another chance. She was obviously very troubled and I pray her soul rests with her Creator.
Depends....I know plenty who in the day could drink anyone under the table
Amen to that
Alcoholic actually....same ends but bigger asshole usually
I knew nothing about her or this show...had to google it
Best to be addicted to something slightly less lethal and problematic .....women in my case..lol
yup
A very high percentage of cooks and chefs battle drug addictions. Gordon Ramsay had a brother who died of an overdose.
34 is much too young. RIP.
Opiods wreck havoc on the digestive tract.
I didn’t remember the name, but immediately remembered her face when I saw it.
She had a difficult time. She was in a ‘cook off’ to save her place and lost. She cried and was almost hysterical as Ramsay (nicely, I might add) said it was time for her to go.
She was brought back at the finale, like most of the contestants, and her cooking was so bad, she was asked to leave the kitchen.
During some of her on camera time, she mentioned she had been homeless, so I gather she’d had a hard time prior to getting a place on the show.
Too bad. I’m sorry to hear this about her.
Art Bell I know from many nights bored at 3 am in the patrol cruiser. Deaths are unfortunate, especially for the loved ones of those who pass. But I just don’t do the cult of celebrity much. In either case, RIP.
