Minnesota law enforcement agencies are experiencing difficulties with their 911 systems.
According to a tweet from the city of Edina, the 911 outage is due to a CenturyLink issue that is affecting the entire state.
Below are a number of agencies who reported they were experiencing an outage:

More Outrage! Oh, wait.
I had to look at it twice, too...
Disabling the 911 system in times of crisis is an excellent way to stop emergency services. I wonder who is testing this out to see how well it works?
The Amish maybe?
Boy Scouts?
So many headlines announcing liberal outrage, my retinas are trained to fill in the blanks.

I’ve always wondered, is it possible to call 911 in an area code other than yours?
I’m thinking about the situation where you’re talking to a family member via Skype, and you witness a home invasion attack live.
"Boris, you're so bad, you're good."
There are only so many ways to get phone traffic around. We lost half of our service to a hospital a couple of weeks ago because a fiber optic cable was cut about 800 miles from here.
Infrastructure is an interesting business. There are places in the country where there is a convergence of wire where someone could knock out data and telephone to huge chunks of the country. And these are places most people have never heard of.
There used to be a building down the street from me where every single telephone call to Europe passed through until the age of operators phased out. Someone with an axe could have taken it out. But hardly anyone knew what was there.
So, yes, a guy with a backhoe can cause a lot of trouble.

Every 911 number has a regular number connected to it. Most PSAPs (911 dispatch centers) don’t know what it is. They also have a non emergency number that is published on their website. They will answer that phone unless all dispatchers are busy. I have my city’s number in my phone so I can reach them for non emergency type stuff. Like a traffic light not working after hours. During the day I would call public works for that.
