Hulus The Handmaids Tale prides itself on painting a dark image for women in Trumps America, even though the show has absolutely nothing in common with Trumps actual America. Still, that doesnt stop the series from bringing its #Resistance narrative to life in the most ridiculous ways. The next stop is taking the phrase barefoot and pregnant a little too seriously.
The May 9 episode Other Women comes after June/Offred (Elizabeth Moss) is found and recaptured trying to escape Gilead. Being pregnant, she remains invaluable to the society despite how anti-women they clearly are. To really drive that point forward, the show finally gives us the biggest feminist nightmare: June, barefoot and pregnant, chained to a bed.
Warning: explicit language.
Lydia: Blessed be the fruit. Ive seen you eaten well, Offred. Third day in a row.
June: Its June. You know my f****** name.
I know the fearful barefoot and pregnant image has been pushed by feminists for decades, especially against Republicans, but this is a new level of paranoia. It would be almost hilarious if not for the fact that some feminists actually believe this is real. Until someone can point to me the real-life account of a conservative government chaining women barefoot and pregnant to beds, maybe its time to try a new tactic. Reality could be a good start.

Thought I ought to post it so you'd see some of the imagery the movie shows.
Without abortion women will be "barefoot and pregnant" with a harsh nurse looking after them.
Pro abort women dress up as "Handmaids" at women's marches and anti Trump rallies.
The Handmaid's Tale is about to go into it's third season so hearing about it is not going away any time soon. They are dragging this book out as long as they can.
I have not seen it. But from what I hear it seems to describe womens’ plight under Islam much more than anything they experience here.
Not chaining them hasn’t worked either. Haven’t tried chaining. I don’t think anything works.
They would never dare set a series like “Handmaid’s Tale” in any place where it could really happen. Like an Islamic regime.
You hit the nail on the head! It’s islam but they are bashing Evangelical Christians!
I’m a female. Liberals are incomprehensibly ignorant and spread bizarre, twisted propaganda to people who, the majority of which (hopefully) are smarter than to believe this relates to Trump and/or Christianity. We will find out in the next election how many fell for their garbage.
My God, I can not imagine my parents or grandparents dressing up in make-believe costumes for anything, let alone silly movies or shows.
Wake Up! Wake Up! Wake Up! Wake Up!
The Handmaid’s Tale should be filmed in Venezuela, where men AND women live in paradise.
Ho hum, the book was written as a critique of Ronald Reagan and the Moral Majority in the 1980’s. BS then, BS now.
‘What’s weird is how the Left is so wrapped in make-believe TV shows and movies.’
these people are perfectly well aware that this show is not reality; they are just indulging in childlike displays of petulance when they dress up at rallies, trying to create a ‘conscience perspective’ that illuminates their higher virtue...
The society presented in the The Handmaid’s Tale has nothing on our current reality. Our culture celebrates abortion, giving little boys hormones to make them into little girls, whoredom, drug addiction, pornography, pedophilia, and will probably be moving on to cannibalism. I’ll take Gilead over where Weimerica is heading.
Perhaps they’re trying to evoke the conditions of poor women in the rent-a-womb business in India or Thailand.

It’s islam liberal fools
Liberals live in a sick fantasy land where Evangelical Christians are out to implement a theocracy that enslaves everyone. Yet, in the real world, created by liberalism, we have atrocities like abortion, which liberals try to sweep under the rug when it comes to what this actually entails.
Speaking for myself, I would love to go barefoot the rest of my life.
Under his eye.
