Fantasy Island is coming to the big screen.
Blumhouse and Sony will co-finance and co-produce a feature based on the popular ABC TV series about a magical, wish-fulfilling island that would attract travelers hoping to live out their wildest fantasies.
Jeff Wadlow, who worked with Blumhouse on the recent release Truth or Dare, is attached to direct from a script he is writing with Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs. Wadlow also will executive produce along with Blumhouses Couper Samuelson. Ryan Turek will oversee for Blumhouse and Matt Milam will oversee for Sony.
Wadlow, who also directed Kick Ass 2, is repped by UTA, Artists First and Hirsch Wallerstein
....another 100 million dollar rerun
from brain dead Hollywood.
Was Barbie Benton ever in FITOS?
Will they resist having a transgender or furry fantasy?
“Was Barbi Benton ever on FITOS?
Yes! In 8 episodes altogether, from 1978 through 1982.
Doubt it...
Making it a far, far darker version of Fantasy Island.
Wow, eight!
I predict big things for Barbi's full-function robot version in the future.
I wonder if she's already sold the rights?
Ping.
Why, Why, Why??????
I can’t think or a worse idea. That was a nice campy show 40 years ago. The problem with a Hollywood picture is most reboots or remakes of TV shows turn out badly, with a few exceptions.
I smell a BOMB coming!!!!!!!!!!!
Da plane !!! Da plane !!!
Fantasy Island, like The Love Boat, was a vehicle for allowing a bunch of has-been and never-were actors a chance to collect a check.
Exactly. Mostly has been stars from the Old Golden age looking to just do something or they needed a paycheck. Sometimes it was hard to watch the old stars, especially the men who had grown their hair with some sideburns trying to look hip and pick up younger women.
I saw a interview with actor Ray Milland and he was asked about some the material he did late in his career and he was truthful, he said, “the money my dear, the money.”
I agree. And you wonder what they will do to placate the politically correct crowd. Who will be the gay character? Who will be the social justice warrior? Will we be told how the island has gotten their carbon footprint under control, and that the new Mr. Roarke and Tattoo are environmentalists???
Ah yes, the Love Boat was on ABC on Saturday nights around the time Fantasy Island was on.
Imagine if they had an updated Love Boat. There would be numerous storylines revolving around homosexuality, I’m sure. And don’t forget the “transgendered” characters looking for love.
And it was marketed to a bunch of lonely people of the same vintage so they could fantasize about having a whirlwind romance without actually spending money needed for medications and maintaining their old homes and cars on having said romances.
Always a market for that.
The Pilot Movie was actually much darker and intriguing than the eventual TV series. If they lean that way, give the characters some depth, avoid political correctness, unseemly political messages, and write a good script....it could work!!!!
Besides, I was in High School when Love Boat/Fantasy Island were running on Saturday nights My sister and I would laugh at ourselves as we sat there watching some of the worst TV ever produced....knowing we had nothing better going on in our lives. In fact, my sister and I are going to the movie together when it gets released just for the memories....which as it turns out are actually pretty special.
Recycling old ideas done to death.
Oooh i so want to go see this craptacular debacle.
