Not being mean, but I didn’t know he was still alive.

Altho I sympathize, I gave up on him years and years ago when he helped turn MASH into a horribly anti-American and anti-Military show.

I wish him well now in with his current problems.

That is unfortunate news. Watching episodes of M.A.S.H. gives good memories of our youth.

82 years old. 36 when MASH(TV) launched!

I know he is a liberal, however, he isn’t an obnoxious liberal like his co-star Mike Farrel1.

All the best to him.

Alan Alda is still alive? Awesome! I preferred MASH before the sanctimonious BS in the later years, but it was pretty funny for the first couple of years. After Wayne Rogers left it went downhill big time.

This will give him a chance to campaign with Michael J. Fox for the need for aborted fetuses.

So sorry he has this. Always respected his acting.

Liked him as Senator Owen Brewster in “The Aviator”.

“I want to see the color of his lies.”

“Is that a yak?”

Wishing him well, despite his political inanity.

Sorry he has this, but then, he’s 82. Well past the warranty expiration at this point, and as harsh as it sounds, it’s really just a race now to see what ends up being cause of death. I happen to like most of MASH, even the later Col Potter era. Jamie Farrell is annoying, and Alda did turn the show into something of a personal hobby horse, but the chemistry between the characters did get better. Linville’s “Frank” character was way too one-dimensional, and got “flanderized” badly. Stiers’ “Winchester” was a much better foil for Alda, as he was legitimately a really good doctor and at least as sharp-witted.

"Getting old is not for sissies" - Bette Davis.

Best of luck to Alda - I hated MASH and his endless, tiresome left-wing sermonizing, but no one deserves the kind of ailments and accompanying indignities that old age brings. Besides, he was OK in "Crimes and Misdemeanors" (my favorite Woody Allen movie).

I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s just a couple of months ago. The drugs that I’ve been prescribed help quite a bit.

Sad to hear about anybody getting Parkinsons.

In Hollywood you have to be a liberal or a homosexual or abortionist to succeed. That’s just the way it is.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE eat avocados, eggs, olive oil, pumpkin seeds and supplement with Vitamin D3. Don’t waste your time with fish oil supplements. Real foods, real fats. Your brain needs them. Also important is the quality of water you drink., and staying hydrated. Also, even older adults should play video games to keep the brain engaged and sharp

I hated all the anti-military trash in MASH. Since that was based on the Korean war (and somewhat of the Vietnam war since that was going on while the show we aired), think about it while we deal with NK today. If we had been more strident in the Korean war there might not be a NK today, or if there were it’d be smaller.

I once read that many of the stats in the MASH show were from a real MASH unit in the Korean war. You know, the stats Pierce would sometimes ramble off when he goes on one of his why-are-we-here rants. I think those #’s were pretty impressive.

When Alda’s daughter was going to Wesleyan, he and his wife would come in [weekends] to the gourmet store we managed.

Of course people gravitated to him and asked for autographs. He refused. Saying he would shake their hand, rather than give an autograph.

He came across as very snotty and arrogant; OTOH, his wife [a photographer?] was always lovely.

Wish the limousine liberal well, in spite of his disagreeable personality and wacko politics.

FWIW, Alan Arkin, who also came in frequently [his wife kept horses in the next town over] is a most delightful person. Down-to-earth and very, very agreeable. Exact opposite to Alda.

Alan will get the best Healthcare money can buy to help him deal with this Disease.

He is lucky enough to be an American, although he has no appreciation of it.
