Cletus predicts.
RR will NOT resign.
House will impeach; party lines.
Senate will NOT convict. (Question: Can the Senate simply decline to hold trial?)
RR remains in DAG position.

What remains to be seen is how much damaging info comes out of the Senate trial. Collateral damage to FIBers Strzok and McCabe, possibly Page. RR will throw them all under the bus. Could extend to Brennan.

Still no follow up anywhere on the “Dual Spook” role of Strzok.

-- Senate will NOT convict. (Question: Can the Senate simply decline to hold trial?) --

That's a great question, and one that has a parallel in Senate confirmation. In the realm of confirmation, those who advocate for Senate inaction say there is nothing in the constitution that compels the Senate to consider a nominee.

Well, there is nothing in the constitution that compels the Senate to act on an impeachment either.

The Senate can and does whatever it wants. It is not bound by anything other than pure politics and power. The rules can all be waived, and as we saw with Corker and the Iran deal, even the constitutional provisions relating to treaties can be undercut. The Senate can make a rule that unanimity is required to pass all legislation - right now the senate rule is that a supermajority is required to pass legislation, so the Senate operates under a minority veto system.

The Senate is a joke, it is a totally dysfunctional body. Its members are arrogant crap weasels.

All that said, the Senate would almost certainly take up an impeachment case. To do otherwise would smell so bad, the public would notice.

Here’s what I’m guessing (yes, guessing):

If the House impeaches, that will force RR to be recused and oversight of Mueller will be handled in the interim by someone else (thinking white hat).

If this guess is accurate, then it plays to the advantage of the good guys for the Democrats to drag the trial out as long as possible.

At the trial, all the dirt will come out. If the Dems rush to trial before November and lots of Dem dirt comes out, maybe the Dems will be put between a rock and a hard place and weigh whether defending RR quickly is better than just dragging out the trial and just jawboning about how the GOP is impeaching RR to protect Trump while a white hat provides “adult leadership” to Mueller.

My 1 1/2 cents,

Go Trump - MAGA
Go Melania aka Lady MAGA

Q is real

Reposting an interesting thread that little jeremiah reposted from Cboldt, who kindly posted on the previous thread.

I'll highlight the high points, but worth a read IMHO.

This is how you know the endgame is starting:

My theory is that Rosenstein is willing to play the ‘bad’ guy in this slow rollout strategy.

...

If my ‘slow rollout’ theory is correct, after months of threatening Rosenstein with impeachment, the time finally arrived to hit him with an actual impeachment bill in the House. Now Rosenstein can do his part & play scared & suddenly cough up everything.

...

Some if it might be theater. Some of it might be quite real. Whatever is happening behind the scenes, all signs point to real movement.

...

Rosenstein *might* be a real bad guy. He might also be *playing a necessary role he’s been asked to play*.

Food for thought.

I like the ‘slow rollout’ theory. Rosenstein can't give up information that's being used in an ongoing investigation, can he?

The whole point is to get the info unclassified and made public. So either RR caves and releases the info, or he stonewalls and POTUS declassifies it. I’m inclined to go with the former. But either one works for me.

There seems to be a mirror-image of the accusation made that Trump is "obstructing justice". That is, anyone in the deep satte can open any kind of investigation when they want to side-step oversight of Congress.

This seems to be done as a ploy to "obstruct" the Constitutional oversight. So aren't the Deep Staters "obstructing" the Constitution?

Checks and balances have gone sideways, morphing into a political stand-off.

When will we have a permanent "Special Counsel", perpetually appointed, to thwart the Executive regardless of party?

If the F-I and D-J staged an actual coup d'état, it would not look a whole heluvalot different than their current antics.
