Morrow was born in the Bronx, (New York) to a middle class Jewish family, the son of Jean (née Kress) and Harry Morrow, an electric engineer. When he was 17, Morrow dropped out of high school and joined the U.S. Navy. While on active duty he finished his high school requirements and upon his discharge he enrolled under the GI Bill at Florida Southern College, 1948 and 1949, where he first studied pre-law and switched to drama/theatre. Vic then moved to Mexico City and attended college there majoring in drama. He was also a student of the famous "Actors Workshop" in New York for two years.

I watched “Combat” most every week.
What an Awesome show..... Saunders, Cage, Kirby, and the B.A.R.
Got to meet Vic Morrow when he ate lunch in our mess hall in
Quang Tri.We all talked about the Combat show with him.
One of the grunts invited him to join em on a patrol.
He laughed and said he was too out of shape and too dam old.
Really hated the terrible way he died.
His death was incredibly gruesome and is on tape. Not for the faint of heart.
More than a few folks believe director John Landis should’ve gone to prison for his role in Morrow’s and those kids’ grisly deaths.

I really liked Combat as a kid. Somebody posted that what he learned from Combat was the Germans were not good shots and all French villages looked the same. LOL.
On his death, at least they didn’t see it coming and it was quick.

The incredible thing was that was a back lot left over from a movie. Look it up, it s fascinating. They also filmed in a nearby recreation park.
