Another beloved sitcom is plotting a possible return. I have learned that Frasier star and executive producer Kelsey Grammer is fielding interest to put together a new Frasier series.
Unlike the slew of recent revivals of comedy series with the original cast and original creative auspices, including Will & Grace, Roseanne and Murphy Brown, I hear that Frasier is envisioned as a reboot, likely set in a new city, with the title character, played by Grammer, as a possible link to the Emmy-winning 1993 series.
Psychiatrist Frasier Craine already made a cross-country move once. He was introduced on the Boston-set NBC hit Cheers before getting his own spinoff series, Frasier, on which he returned to his hometown of Seattle to start a new life as a radio host and to reconnect with his father and brother.
I hear Grammer is currently meeting with writers who are pitching different concepts for the potential followup series. If the producers settle on a writer and a premise, the project could move beyond exploratory stage. Reps for Grammer and CBS TV Studios declined comment.
Frasier, created by the late David Angell, Peter Casey, and David Lee, is one of the most celebrated comedy series of the 1990s and 2000s. The show, produced by Grammers Grammnet Prods. and CBS TV Studios predecessor Paramount Network Television, ran on NBC for 11 seasons, from 1993 to 2004, and starred Grammer, David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves, Peri Gilpin, and the late John Mahoney.
Frasier set a record for the most Emmy Awards won by a scripted series at the time, 37, including five consecutive Emmys for Outstanding Comedy Series.
With Paramount Network TV/CBS Studios, where his Grammnet was once based, Grammer produced such successful series as Medium, Girlfriends and spinoff The Game. As an actor, following his 20-year stint as Frasier Craine on Cheers and Frasier, Grammer has largely stayed on the drama side in TV, most recently with a starring role on the upcoming Fox legal drama Proven Innocent.

Kelsey Grammer: Being a Republican is like having a target on your back
Springsteen covered this back when it was 57 channels and nothings on.
Only the numbers have changed, not the quality.
But you can go listen to a Jordan Peterson talk, or a Rogan interview, or any of a fairly large number of intelligent commentaries/discussions.
LOL, we just saw that episode on Cozi TV this past week. :-)
Enjoying the show in repeats much more than when first seen on regular broadcasts of the series. Believe we’ve seen every one of their many seasons - watching on Cozi TV Network and on ROKU with their Daily Motion app.
They went out on a high note. Do hope they give this serious thought. Not many reboots live up to expectations. And once soured, viewers become non existent. The cast and the writers made the show. The cast has moved on, and a fraction of the original writers has moved on as well.
Mahoney was only 53 when Frasier aired? DAMN he looked a lot older than that!
I watch TCM and some HGTV home repair stuff and that's about it. It costs a fortune, is absolutely worthless and filled with commercials. it's time to pull the plug on the TV.
I’m sorry.. I would watch this.
A year too late. Wouldn’t be the same without Martin.......;(
I thought it was the best comedy show ever written. Nothing slap stick about it. The comedy wasn’t “in your face”, and IMO there has never been another comedy show on that level. Adored David Hyde Pierce as Niles Frasier’s brother.
I would definitely watch this. Frazier was a great show and Kelsey Grammer is definitely a based patriot.

If Grammar is playing Frazier then its technically not a reboot is it?
I thought a reboot is when new, younger actors play old characters. (eg. Chris Pines Star Trek reboot movies)
Good point. Continuation or sequel is more accurate.
Watching now... repeats of Frasier. Funny show ...helps me regain some sanity after watching news.
My favorite sitcom of all time. I am embarrassed to admit I have watched reruns 5 times. A truly intelligent, sophisticated and hilarious show. I would love to see it returned.
All those young women he likes keep him young.
I always enjoyed Frasier, wish Kelsey the best of luck and I’d tune in if available online.
Really liked the actor who played his father as well. A great gem of a character.
The Bulldog character was so over the top annoying I cringed whenever he entered a scene.
The show is a classic. Please leave well enough alone Kelsey!
Yeah and the Bulldog character was a skirt chaser. Ironically, in real life, the skirt chaser was Gil - the food critic.
Mahoney was British? Mahoney was gay?
Wait. That sounds about right. Seems like every other famous male Brit is a homo.
England lost too many real men in WWI and WWII. Much of the leftover breeding stock was apparently effeminate Soy Boys. Way too many queers from England.
Mahoney had colon cancer and throat cancer. I've noticed this has happened to other gay actors like Graham Chapman of Monty Python fame. These sorts of cancers occur often with homosexuals.
