You think like a litigious American. The guard thinks like a British soldier. There is a difference.

She crossed the line and it was a criminal trespass.
She should have landed on her face. Maybe it would have sunk in that you NEVER cross a LEGAL barrier.

In Việt Nam the rudeness prize goes to Japanese men. Second prize goes to Germans in an Axis of Crass. Otherwise tourists are tourists. I did a tour of the southern tip with my buddy who had never been down there and we were part of a Vietnamese tour group. We saw and did much more than the foreign groups did because the foreigners, mostly Europeans and Australians but Americans too, didn't even get out of their hotel rooms before 0900 whereas we were up and out and on the river well before sunrise and we finished well after dark while the foreigners were all back in their hotels by sundown.

Yep, while they wear “fancy” dress uniforms, they are real soldiers with a job to do. Their duties and SOP’s are well established, and in their culture in their country, it is understood that yelling and physical altercation (minimal with escalation as needed) is proper when guarding royals and royal estates. They are security. They are not playing games. Don’t like it? Then follow the rules, and don’t mess with the guard.

I once worked in an American east coast beach resort town, in a shop on the “boardwalk”. IMO, the prize for rudeness went to German men and their psychopathic wives. (Reminded me of a Pink Floyd song ...) Most other foreigners were just people.

Glad I am not the only one! But I read that he shouted a warning, and that you could clearly hear his footsteps approaching 🙄 Good on you, to that young man.

The CHINESE!!! Was in Edinburg last year. They were always pushing and trying to get in front of other people in lines. Even the Scots lost their patience with them!

Having studied in the UK for three years, it was amazing to see how loud and obnoxious the tourists from here were. I once lived in England for about a year. I used to cross the street when I heard American tourists approaching.
Sad to say, but some of our folks can be real louts.

Nice shot.
Probably the first time in her entitled life that she didn’t get her way.

Maybe she thought she was filming a scene for Patriot Games.
I disagree with you on the force issue. It is their country and laws. If they allow it, so be it. If not, go to court and see what happens. In this case no harm, no foul, just someone’s dignity diminished.

But they wear those silly hats.... :-) The fully loaded, automatic rifles they carry, tend to mitigate the silly factor.
Those guys are also serious as a heart attack, which you'll dicover if you're ever within a few feet of them.

Wonder how and why Japanese men are so rude?

There are thought to be guidelines in place for guardsmen to deal with nuisances, which begins with stamping their feet and shouting. Raising a rifle is considered a 'final warning', after which the guardsmen is allowed to detain the person in question.
They are GUARDS - not tourist attractions. Unless she is deaf, wouldn't she have heard him approaching?
