Study reveals that felines BULLY other pets because they are not as well domesticated as their [tr]

Cats like to act like they rule roost – as anyone who lives with one will tell you.

And now scientists have found that it really is the cat, and certainly not the owner, who is responsible for harmony in the home.

Experts at the University of Lincoln have discovered cats are the 'key player' in maintaining good karma when its sworn enemy, a dog, is brought into the household.

For although they may be descended from wolves, with big, loud barks and fearsome teeth, dogs are likely to find themselves bullied mercilessly if they live with a cat.

Cats domesticated humans, not the other way around. Once you understand this, all things feline make sense.

I’ve seen that before and I always think, a cat would just lay there and ignore you. Tasha is too cute!!

Dogs are easily fooled. Just ask a cat.

I ‘member watching a German Shepard chase my friends cat up the steps to his front porch. The cat ducked under the third step and ran out the side. The dog got all the way to the top of the stairs before he realized he was no longer chasing the cat and stood there looking around while the cat walked around the side of the house. Got a good laugh out of that one.

The natures of men and women expressed in dogs and cats.

Right there. Undisputable.

Our male Cavalier King Charles Spaniel will not pass the cat in the hall. The cat knows it and will sit in the middle of the hall taunting him. Poor dog whines until we come rescue him.

My Cavs can’t wait for cat intrusions on our yard, makes for the best day ever, aside form rabbit, bird, and squirrel intrusions. Perhaps the cat would get the better of them, were they to stand ground, but the cats always run away.

These stories of cat domination of dogs within a household have more to do with dog Emotional Intelligence (EQ) within a household order than with some superiority of cats over dogs (as our friend with the Dobies pointed out — those cats were not part of the dog’s household, therefore were free game). Cats have little EQ — they are not social animals.

One of our Cavaliers was so afraid of our cat, he wouldn’t pass her in the hallway. She knew it and taunted him, lying down in the middle of the hall, staring at him, and swishing her tail. He would sit out of her reach, so she couldn’t swat him, whilst whining for us to come rescue him.

Our other 2 Cavaliers and our Golden Retriever had a healthy respect for her too. She weighed 8 lbs but ruled the house. Sadly we lost her to cancer last March at age 14.
