Most people do not find anything funny about the killing of unborn babies in abortions.
But most people arent Lizz Winstead.
The former Daily Show comedian now runs her own pro-abortion group, Lady Parts Justice League. Her group is traveling across the country this summer on its Vagical Mystery Tour comedy show to promote abortions and encourage people to become abortion activists.
Winstead recently spoke to City Pages in Minnesota about the reason for the tour.
The tour includes comedians and musicians who joke about abortions, discuss the issue and urge the audience to support their local abortion facilities. Winstead said this tour, their second, also is encouraging people to get out and vote in the mid-term elections.
At every stop, she said they also do a volunteer project for a local abortion facility and urge their audience to do the same.
Well do anything theyre too overwhelmed and busy to do, Winstead said. Whatever skills that [audience members] have, whatever they know how to do, they can be helpful in making the lives of these providers better.
According to the report:
Winstead noticed that there are plenty of groups that address patient advocacy and reproductive rights at the policy level, but there isnt much in the way of support for abortion providers and clinic workers. She decided to travel around the country doing comedy shows followed by talk back sessions with providers and activists to let audience members know what laws to be on the lookout for in their state and how they can help out local clinics. Audiences are often shocked to hear whats going on legislatively in their hometowns, but this doesnt surprise Winstead at all.
Theres an assault on reproductive access, she says. Its profound and intense and its never covered in the media.
Quite the opposite, the mainstream media is very friendly toward the abortion industry, often parroting its talking points and accepting its claims without question.
Winstead did not see it that way.
When one in four women will have an abortion in her reproductive lifetime, that is part of healthcare for people, she said. I refuse to be part of a silencing operation that tries to stigmatize people. Theyre hard conversations to have, but they need to be had.
She did not explain why abortion is a difficult issue to talk about, though. If an abortion is just a womens healthcare procedure, as she claims to believe, it is difficult to understand why it is so controversial.
Pro-lifers know the reason, and Winstead may, too, even though she will not admit it. After more than 40 years of legalized abortion on demand in America, the issue still sharply divides the public because people realize that abortion kills a human life.
By supporting the abortion industry, Winstead and her group are making the lives of millions of human beings worse. Every year, the abortion industry in America destroys the lives of nearly 1 million unborn babies and injures many of their mothers in the process.
Not until they discover the cause of climate change.
Healthcare for prenatal babies.
I see no reason why they cannot give birth and if they do not want the child, give him/her for adoption...
There are many couples who, for some reason, want, but cannot have a child...And there doesn’t seem to be a lot of young ones for adoption anymore...They are being killed off before birth...
Higher education for women has involved a real dumbing down for both sexes when it comes to education about health!!!!
Abortion advocates are part of Satans army.
What planet did Lizzzzzzzzzz fall of off...she’s nuts.
Whatever a man or nation sows, it will reap. When we look at ancient Israel, we see that the nation was subjugated and its people taken into captivity twice. Re: Leviticus 26. Israel's captivity was God's judgement against a nation that worshiped God with their lips but not their hearts or actions. Sound familiar?
God is no respecter of people or nations. The Lord is long-suffering but He is also just. Our hope is that we turn from our wicked ways. If we do not, like Israel, we will see judgement.
“...an assault on reproductive access...”
Ain’t no assault bigger than killing the result.
The same reasons men do. Because the babies -— unless they kill them quick -— will cause changes in their lives.
But long experience and some study of the statistics has given me a different view: "If abortion is the fire, contraception is the gasoline."
The Guttmacher Institute (and their research is more reliable than anybody else's) says that about half of the women who get abortions were using contraceptives (LINK).
I find this absolutely believeable. Other than the drastic long-term methods (tubal ligation, or hormonal inserts/implants/injectables), all the other methods (condoms, barriers, jams & jellies) end up increasing the pregnancy risk. How? Because they are subject to very poor user-effectiveness rates.
And although they reduce the risk of pregnancy per each act of intercourse, they generally increase frequency of intercourse, and statistically, the reduction of risk is negated by the increase of risk-exposure.
In short, contraceptives don't "take the worry out of being close."
A good person does not just stand aside when a child is going to be killed.
Abortion is Part of Health Care for People until someone bleeds to death and other problems just get your tubes tied.
No you wouldn't if it were applied equally, as in mandatory testicle removal at age 15.
However, adoption can be as difficult for the birthmother as abortion. It is physically more demanding, and it can leave a bigger attachment-wound when she has to part with her little one, even if she didn't "want" the little one to begin with.
Adoption would be the ONLY right and just solution if she and the child's father cannot properly parent their child, but most men AND women will be no better than they *have* to be --- even if it involves complicity in murder.
I know what you are saying, but I don’t see how any “attachment wound” could be bigger than death of a child....
I do not think surgical sterilization really addresses the human dignity problem.
However, it doesn't always work out like that. It makes sense morally, maybe intellectually, but it can work out differently emotionally. And unfortunately, many people operate not on the basis of principle or intellect, but on the basis of how they feel. This is sentimentalism.
It is not too extreme to say that sentimentalism kills.
Not a human dignity issue when no child isn’t conceived it’s like it never happened. And nobody gets murdered.
Well, I’m sure my “male mind” looks at it quite differently than the female mind...
