>> “He was being fed by a Good Samaritan for some period of time, and he was so friendly that she was trying to find him a permanent home,”

How frustrating for that cat to be “friendzoned”. “I like you, here you go... oh, you can’t come HOME with me, I don’t like you like that.”

Most of my cats over the years haven’t been “cuddlers.” We had to take one to the vet this morning for a check-up, I almost collapsed from exhaustion getting her into the cage.

I have a rescue Maine Coon named Maximus that a coworker found left in the apartment she rented. He has been abused and had a broken paw at one point and walks with a slight limp and has no balance. Throw in the fact the poor guy is cross eyed.

I’m a cat guy, they love me, always have and my wife’s calico Abigail had already taken up with me instead of her but she said sure will take Max. We had him neutered and wormed and he sat on me for hours after we brought him home from the vet and finally I sat him in the litter pan and he did his business and ran off and hid under a hutch.

For a week or two we had Max sightings from the kids, they would report I saw him run out of the kitchen or bathroom. He would sneak out to the litter pan and use it and to the food and water bowls. I would go to the hutch and sit down and lean against the wall and he would ease over to my hand under the hutch and let me love on him.

Now he is my shadow in the house. Office, kitchen, watches me cut grass in the windows, meows wanting out in the garage with me if I am working out there, even if I go to the bathroom he follows me and if I go away for a business trip for a couple of days I am fussed at for a minute or two and then he is all over me purring and giving affection.

Each morning he washes up as he watches me get ready in the bedroom for work and I will start to leave and tell him, you have the point Max and he will trot down the hallway and through the rooms in front of me until we get to the garage door and he watches me get my wallet, keys, watch and gun off the fridge and he knows I am leaving. When I hit the door returning home he comes running to greet me. I actually can whistle and call him like people call a dog and he comes running. I have had many cats growing up and as an adult but this rescue kitty is the most affectionate and loving little cat I have every encountered, love him to death.

The wife and I have a big, black and white cat, a Maine coon mix we took from a neighbor who moved. We call him “Rocky Fuzzbutt’’. He hugs everybody he meets. All the time. Never saw a cat do that.

My wife’s Maine Coon cat didn’t get the memo either. He loves attention for his 22 pound self.

That used to be an hour-long struggle for me. Then someone told me to put the cage on a table. Then put the cat in, TAIL first. It worked! Of course, your mileage may vary.

I inherited my Maine Coon from my BFF who developed an allergy to cats. So I got Alex (and Merlin, who was 28lbs of black bowling ball sweetness!). Alex was a little fiesty and kinda mean and would occasionally bite when he was unhappy.

He bit me one day so I bit him back. (On the scruff of the neck and picked his front paws up an inch off the ground)

He never bit me or anyone else again.

Smart cat. Sure do miss that fiesty cat.

No, she knows all the tricks. She knows ahead of time when it’s vet time.

The Tuxedo cat controls everything and everyone.

Its me again with the 19 year old that looks like this guy, controls the 110 pound Doberman.

Along with praying, they really are sent from God to help us cope!!

Wonderful

A pillowcase, then drop the pillowcase in the box.

We had an incredibly smart tuxedo, too. What is it about them that makes them run such a tight ship? He was a neat freak. No clutter allowed. His best buddy was a 100 lb. Newfie mix, but he got along famously with all four big dogs. Blessings to you and yours.
