According to United States of America v. Mariia Butina, Erickson and Butina cohabitated and were allegedly in a sexual relationship, which Butina claimed to have resented: in communications intercepted by the FBI, she stated that she saw the sexual relationship as a "necessary aspect of her activities" and allegedly offered herself to at least one other Republican operative.
