So my brother passed away at 59 after an 8 year battle with ALS. I hadn't seen him in over 2 years primarily based upon my beliefs and their opposition to those beliefs. I really didn't want my children around to be honest. That said he was still my brother and the friction wasn't with him at all. It was his kid and wife.
I had commented about my beliefs on gay marriage and they were strongly opposed to my opposition. His whole family were strong Hillary supporters as well. In fact they moved to Atlanta from the land of fruits and ferries (California).
I called to express my condolences and to find out the arrangements for his funeral only to be shut down and was told to not call, text or otherwise contact them forever. This coming from a so called Christian family. My brother had a baptism in March of this year, makes me feel comforted by the way.
My experience here has cemented my belief that these folks, liberals in general, are so angry that it doesn't matter if you're family or not. If you don't subscribe to their beliefs you are the enemy and nothing will change that. I held back on going off on my niece that was the instigator of the whole thing. I figured it best to leave it alone while they're grieving.
I will not be going to the funeral out of respect for my brother, I'll pay my respects later alone and just continue to pray for him and his family. What gets me is the fact that they don't want any of our family (mother, and 3 brothers with children) to be in attendance of the funeral. What kind of sinkhole have we evolved to in our society that my brothers own mother is not welcome at a funeral?
Thank you sir for the quote. I had a lengthy prayer session with a member of my church family on Sunday. We prayed for my brother, his family, my family and everyone who was touched in some way by my brother for healing and strength knowing he is in Gods arms and a much better place.
I have to forgive the family, Jesus died for us and forgave our sins. I feel much more at ease than I was last week.
I think term limits are an absolute necessity. Now for military service that’s a different story, You should be able to make a career out of it. Politicians however need to be reigned in from time to time. My main reason for support of term limits is to actually, hopefully, have new faces that represent us better. The long term politicians have forgotten who WE the people are.
Thank you all for the prayers and constructive comments. This forum helps me make it through life knowing there are decent folks out there. We have decided that it’s best to hold our own ceremony of remembrance at the cemetery after the funeral out of respect for my brother. My family, my mother and other siblings will be in attendance. We don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable at this time.
I apologize to you and the group for being insensitive to your recent loss.
I still have my brothers and I cannot imagine anything getting between me and them in a similar situation. But every family is different.
Forgive me for causing you more pain. I should have come with a better way of writing that.
Thank you for a measured response.
I'll suggest that to Mrs. Infool7 but she is going to want to know why taxpayers need to foot the bill for extended military careers. She seriously want's it all ended. Government, Schools, Military, Post Office, Police, Fire and Municipal Services, Any Government assistance, all government pay of any kind max lifetime cap at seven years.
I have the utmost respect for the men and women that have dedicated their lives to our exemplary military and I can understand that there are positions that require skills that take long term dedication to develop AND are not readily transferable to the private sector but technology is making those kind of positions fewer and fewer and climbing the pay/skill ladder in a profitable corporation is funded and limited by the success of the company, conversely, government is supported exclusively by the coercion of taxpayers and has only an arbitrary connection to the results that may have warranted it.

So very sad... prayers lifting for you and your family, in the hope that, one day, they will see.
May God hold you close, FRiend.
