On Interstate 95 near the remote northern Maine town of Lincoln last week, the Border Patrol said it made nine drug seizures and two arrests for immigration violations during an 11-hour checkpoint operation in which agents asked motorists about their place of birth and citizenship status.

I guess it makes me think of “papers please” of the Germans. I assume they are able to stop anyone they want for no reason. 4th amendment.
I don’t care at all about them stopping anyone else, and obviously there is no way to stop only illegals and now thinking it over, once they are 100 miles in they can’t do that right?
I want to stop them at a wall on the border but obviously impossible to do on our northern border.

Me, too. And has anyone considered that a wall will keep people in, too? Not saying I'm opposed to what the Border Patrol is doing or against a wall. Just thinking of unintended consequences.
If we enforced the border, this manufactured need for "internal security" would not exist. Our welcome mat for invaders has necessitated a police state for our own citizens.
Of course the ACLU doesn’t give a crap about the “drug seizures”, drugs which are killing Americans at the rate of over 50,000 a year (opiods, fentanyl, meth, heroin, and now as research is showing, even very strong marijuana).
The next time the ACLU complains about this, ask them why they don’t care about the arrest of the drug smugglers, and do it in public and in print.
