Not if the service you're looking for is to have the baddest 'service' animal on the planet, one that can and does go from docile and loving to biting the face off some young or elderly person...
I 'get' that people love their pits, but from what I've read on the subject, they are many, MANY times more likely to be involved in biting incidents than any other breed.
And from personal experience, I had a friend growing up whose pit bull lunged at me while my friend had him tightly controlled on a leash. Left a pretty good claw mark across my stomach, he did.
Yes, it is another recipe for trageday. Unfortunately, the Best Friends Animal people and others are pushing for just this scenario. And a growing number of persons are passing their pit bulls off as “service dogs” and “emotional support animals”.
A good example is the man who was mauled on Delta Airlines six months ago by a 50# pit bull flying on it’s owners lap in the seat next to him.
