Former 49er and original anthem protester Colin Kaepernick, was honored with the National Education Association’s President’s Award on Sunday night. Kaepernick received the award for his efforts with the Know Your Rights Camp, a group which seeks to make primarily minority children aware of their rights and how to deal with the police. The former quarterback has personally funded the camp since he created it in 2016.

reminds me of a past president
He destroyed millions of dollars of his own earning potential, not to speak of helping to bring the value of a multi-billion-dollar industry crashing down, so he could “protest” something so nebulous that the movement never had any specific demands, indicating that it was nothing more than business-as-usual for the perpetually aggrieved.
But at least he got a plaque for his efforts.
And at least he did not make the far greater error of Bill Cosby by advocating personal responsibility versus demanding your “rights” (not to be confused with enumerated rights or natural rights). If he had done this, they would have found the skeletons in his closet just like they did with Bill Cosby. And he would be going to jail.
And he didn’t follow the example of Martin Luther King, Jr. by peacefully protesting on his own dime, using persuasive speech, and with specific demands. Those are the kind of things that left-wingers will kill black people over. (MLK was a Republican. James Earl Ray was a Democrat.)
