China and Australia have joined the search for 12 boys missing in a Thai cave, as divers on Sunday closed in on the spot where they believe the teens are sheltering.
The international rescue operation -- which includes over 1,000 people from Thai emergency services, the US Military and British cave experts -- has been ramping up its efforts since the boys and their 25-year-old soccer coach disappeared during an outing in the caves in northern Thailand eight days ago.
Divers are now closing in on the spot where they believe the missing boys are sheltering in the Tham Luang Nang Non cave system.
The elevated dry area, called Pattaya Beach, is several kilometers from the entrance of the cave.
Water from the flooded cave has receded in recent days, allowing rescue teams to gain ground, according to Chiang Rai province governor Narongsak Osatanakorn.
Oxygen tanks have been installed at 25-meter junctures for divers to use, and a water pumping machine has also being deployed, added Osatanakorn

Lol, maybe you should sharpen your sarcasm skills, or whatever your were attempting. You’re no Mark Twain. And why does anyone think the subject of this thread is a matter for joking?
LOL I didn’t make the joke I just explained it LOL
Maybe you should sharpen your reading comprehension skills.
Oh, you’re that guy! ;-)
Lol, you failed at sarcasm and the first poster failed at humor on a serious thread. Talk about poor reading comprehension and any inability to distinguish between poor sarcasm and poor jokes.
SCUBA uses (with some exceptions) plain air compressed in tanks. A rebreather scrubs CO2 out, replaces oxygen, and recirculates the air. They both have advantages. The closed loop rebreather emits no bubbles and might be an advantage in cave diving by not agitating silt on surfaces above the diver which would hurt visibility. I’ve done some cave diving, never got out of sight of the entrance.
All in the name of “adventure.” Otherwise seemingly intelligent people will jump off a 250 foot bridge tethered only to bungee strap rigged up by some third world pot smoking illiterate or wander into an uncharted cave with a local “tour guide.”
And, if it isn’t enough to risk ones own life, how about the rescuers?
I wasn’t being sarcastic. You seem to know a lot of things you don’t know.
Well, then, you were simply being presumptuous and ignorant in assuming that everyone has knowledge of some comedy that is now decades old. Duh. You seem to assume a lot a things wiser folks would not assume.
The more I read here the more i’m convinced that lack of humor is a genetic defect.
Hmm. 14 words in your answer (when ‘doesn’t’ is split back into ‘does not’. And an 88 in your name.
The media warned us about folks like you.
Lol, you sound like a graduate of the Louis Farrakhan School of Numerology.
This was the initial message to me.
He was making a joke about Gilligans island. Duh.
Not an "explanation" as claimed, but an insult and sarcasm which clearly calls someone an idiot or ignoramus for not knowing some reference to a decades old TV comedy.
Look up the meaning of "Duh". Do you consider that humor? Maybe you're then one with a genetic defect. Words mean things, and if folks don't know what some words mean, then maybe they shouldn't use them.
So what’s been your biggest adventure anton?
I took a pro bono case to the Ohio Supreme Court.
Well...did you win? ;)
If you have to explain you’ve already lost.
Actually, no. I was Don Quixote
Usually, stories involving children and Thailand involve buggery.
