WASHINGTON — The pitched battle looming over the Supreme Court, along with a jolt to the Democratic leadership at the ballot box last Tuesday, is threatening to shatter the already fragile architecture of the Democratic Party, as an activist rebellion on the left and a lurch to the right in Washington propels the party toward a moment of extraordinary conflict and forced reinvention.
For Democrats, the transformation could prove as consequential as President Trump’s consolidation of power in his own party and the conservative movement’s tightening grip on the federal government.
“The Trump presidency has changed the dynamics in our party,” said Richard J. Durbin of Illinois, the second-ranking Democrat in the Senate, acknowledging that he could not call recall a similar grass-roots uprising since he was elected to Congress in 1982.
The party’s traditional leaders absorbed one blow after another last week. Representative Joseph Crowley, a 20-year incumbent and potential future House speaker, was unseated by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old Latina political newcomer; Congress made clear it cannot pass even a limited immigration measure for the children of undocumented immigrants; and the Supreme Court handed down rulings that undermined the labor unions that are a backbone of the Democratic Party, while also limiting abortion rights advocacy and upholding President Trump’s travel ban.
And then Justice Anthony M. Kennedy announced his retirement, effectively handing Mr. Trump the opportunity to cement a conservative majority on the bench.

Winning seats in the mid-terms is a cake-walk if the candidates did nothing more than air on TV and social media the dems non-stop, leftist, anti-American rants. They could have shut down the whole immigration mess just by airing the before and after lectures by Obama, Pelosi, and Schumer back in 2008 and now.

He was confirmed for his current seat despite much noise from some Democrats. I wonder which Democrats voted for him. Democrats in Trump country states, perhaps? ;-) Anyway, he’s on the President’s list for Supreme Court nominees.

Obuma sent 10 radical leftists to South Carolina to start riots. They were arrested under the state’s anti-klan laws and got 10 to 15 years in state prison.

The same people that formed the Tea Party are the same people who have always been the conservative base of the GOP who have been intentionally marginalized by the Bush League Republicans are taking over the GOP under the leadership of President Trump.
The Democrats went communist years ago but have pretended they aren’t and now the mask is off.
Traditional Democrat voters will become Republicans and the Democrats will be replaced by the La Raza party.

I agree to that too. People said the Tea Party is dead. Maybe so, but who were the actual base of the Trump Train but lazy members of the Tea Party who backed a true winner.
They can figure it out, but their goal is much different than ours.
Their goal is amnesty for illegal aliens and their employers.
We still have active tea party groups in Virginia.
There was an effort by the Bush League Republicans to kill it but it became the Trump movement.
Here’s a couple thoughts about the Democratic Party in 2018:
1. They slice their pie and hand it out to the loudest mouths in the room which are always the LGBT’s and women wanting to kill babies at their whim. These two groups share of the pie will have to be reduced or the Democratic Party is doomed. And I know, that will be a HUUUGGGEEE fight but if they don’t win it, much less even start it, they’re doomed.
2. When you criticize anybody for say giving a hundred grand to a needy person you lose credibility. When you do it over and over and over for years on end on subject after subject and event after event, and never say one good thing about your opposition, you earn for yourself, one brick at a time, zero credibility which is the dems and their media partners biggest problem because by now no one believes a damn thing either says and even worse won’t even listen to them.
to have any hope of survival, the Democrat Party needs to revert back to its classic values of the 1960’s, focus on the economic well-being of the working class by focusing on the economic health of the nation, cut out the identity politics, cut out the racial pandering and halt their insane lurch to the ulta-left ... fortunately, none of this will happen ...
