It's the right thing to do
My life | Today | KittenClaws

Today my husband and I did the right thing. We put our beloved pet down, we decided her life had no joy, no moment free from pain.

Our little "Trouble", had tumors on her chest, she would whimper if touched , My darling Trouble would just stand sometimes in one place, rickety legs, wobbling body. She would be outside, ears perked, listening to days gone by.

My father just lost one of his cats the same way, and another to a coyote. Both cats had unique and attractive personalities and are missed.

Sorry for your loss and these difficult times. We had to put down our 14 year old Bichon Frise in the fall last year. He was such a joy to the family and it was a terrible loss. Like many others have related here, he went blind and deaf and then became incontinent. When he started falling over and had difficulty getting up we knew it was time.

We got a new English Goldendoodle puppy about five months ago and he has filled our hearts with love again. You can never replace the lost friend, but a new pet does help ease the pain. We have two cats, one 12 and one about 5. The younger kitty and the puppy have become best buds and follow each other everywhere.

Our daughter got her Veterinary Technician license last year and is specializing in pain management. She works for an outstanding vet in the pain management field. They are both working wonders for pets in pain.

I’m very sorry for your loss. I have had to do this with a number of dogs and cats in my life and it’s heartbreaking every time. Currently my wife and I have seven cats and one by one , in time their time will come. But at least they won’t be alone, sick and scared and will be put to sleep gently and painlessly.

Been there and it is always a bittersweet moment to remove a dear pet from misery and to also lose that pet as a source of comfort and enjoyment. You did the right thing.

I hope you held her and you were the last thing she saw. Your heart is broken but you did the right thing.

Poor little animals who depend entirely on us to decide what’s best for them. And there usually comes a time when the decision we must make is very painful. When we got our babies we talked about how there would come a day when we’d have let them go. But those 14 years sure flew by way faster than we ever thought they would.

And we won’t get anymore pets because we’d outlive them. The only possible exception would be to get an older dog.

So sorry, know the feeling all to well. I’ve had to have 3 of our little dogs put down, 2 had wide spread cancer, 1 had had a stroke and couldn’t even find his way to his food/water, just walked in circles. The last 2 were 10 and 11 and were both blind and deaf. Most of the time they just slept curled into fetal balls from arthritis pain.

I couldn’t stand not having a fur baby, as a Senior I needed the comfort of one. Hubby bought me a Morkie when she was 6 weeks old, 1/4th Maltese 3/4th Yorkie, looks like a Yorkie just doesn’t grow the long hair. She whined for 5 weeks before we could find a companion for her when we had the Peekapoo who was 11 and had had a stroke down. We found a rescue Shitz female who was 3 fully house broke, already spayed. All we did was get her Chipped like the Morkie is.

We happily sacrificed for our dogs. Lots of times we couldn’t go on trips we wanted to go on because of the dogs. But we did travel some because they loved to go bye bye.

We cared so much for them that we drove from Houston to Jonesboro, Arkansas to have their teeth cleaned because we trusted the vet. And we could actually make the trip and save money because it was so expensive in Houston. And that included gas and motels. Or maybe we were just rationalizing. Ha!

No you were using commonsense. I’m 70 next month, take drying agent meds, which have destroyed my gums, loosened teeth, I have 9 lower, full upper, but they have shifted and need braces, the worse is the receding gums are extensive, I’ve added it up $45,000+ for grafts, braces, 2 molar implants. My answer Pull the 9 lower, make a dental plate. When the Upper start falling out, you can pull them and do a upper denture at a fraction of the $45,000. I could buy 2 cars for that kind of money.

We have 1 that rides well, 1 who pukes, so it’s easier to board at the Vet, who I’ve used 30 yrs. And do the Wellness package on the 1 due for her shots. I can have peace of mind they are getting the best care possible.

I’ve got partial plates and the dentist made them so he can add to them as I lose more teeth. At 69 I’m not spending a bunch on dental work. Hell, I don’t buy green bananas.

I’m not allowed to eat them they shoot my sugar up to high.

When I called the FDA BAD DRUG hotline all I got was the government spiel that it’s not the FDA’s job to police drugs doctors prescribe. Talk to your Doctor. What good does it do to ‘talk’ to your doctor when the real responsibility lies with the Pharmaceutical companies and their product. If you look up every Hypertension drug you will find they ALL have GI, blurred vision statements. Some just react faster than others. ALL Osteoarthritis drugs come with a GI/Heart warning. I just happen to be the Patient who reacted to both, And now have to deal with damaged vision that can’t be repaired along with the damaged GI Tract. And don’t have any one to hold responsible for the damage. The system is BROKEN. And they wonder why Pharmaceutical companies are sued so often. Make SAFER DRUGS! that actually CURE, not just treat symptoms. Oh, that would mean you lost a paying customer if you actually CURED someone.

If I took Jeff Sessions advice take a Ibuprofen advice would real quickly develop a bleeding Ulcer. Tylenol will destroy your Liver.

The drug companies allot millions for lawsuits. They spend a more on legal fees than R&D. And doctors get kickbacks for hitting a qouta. Look at how many doctors prescribed oxycottin. Most are chasing bucks.

Preaching to the Choir here. I’ve a full typed sheet of drug reactions, some just hives, worst were A-Fib hospital stays. This latest is Hypertension drug damaged my newly fixed Corneas, so my vision is permanently blurred as my corneas now have ripples on them and won’t retain tear film with all 4 Tear ducts cauterized shut.
